Oracle
I wouldn't say that the influence was that great from Sabbath. If you listen to an artist like Earth or (heaven forbid) Sunn O))), you'll hear plenty of Sabbath influence. Sabbath basically made the drone/doom metal genre. But as far as Rush being influence by them, I would say no. The first album was definitely influenced by Led Zeppelin and Bad Company, without a doubt. sonictheplumber
nah rush said they didn't wanna make songs like bad company so I don't think that's it I'm thinking mostly led zeppelin and blue cheer

Fridge
Of course there was an influence..the riff from Working Man is definitely a nod to Sabbath..no bad thing in my opinion.

Yeah, that songs sounds more like Sabbath than Bad Company or Led Zep or Cream. But I can't think of another song from the first album with that Sabbath vibe. D3strukt
I would say, yes. On certain occasions. I know for a fact, Geddy is influenced by Geezer Butler, and likewise, them being from the same period. I would say that they had a BIT of influence, just a BIT. The edgier stuff has a definite sabbath hook to it. (Hemispheres: Prelude, Working Man, Stick It Out, and BU2B come to mind.)

go2wrk@95974
From what I read, and the 1st album suggests, they were influenced by Led Zep..atleast at the beginning. Then obviously, they found their own sound..and the rest is Hall Of Fame history. (..or aleast they should be...Hint-hint,HOS.)
The_Necromancer_77
Nah, don't think so. I guess I can kind of hear the Blue Cheer you mentioned, but not really Black Sabbath. Rush were (as others have said) influenced a lot by popular bands like Bad Company on their first album.
