Tommy Sawyer
Cat Stevens - Peace Train Now I've been happy lately Thinking about the good things to come And I believe it could be Something good has begun I've been smiling lately Dreaming about the world as one And I believe it could be Something good's bound to come For out on the edge of darkness There runs the peace train Peace train take this country Come take me home again Peace train sounding louder Ride on the peace train Hoo-ah-eeh-ah-hoo-ah Come on the peace train Peace train's a holy roller Everyone jump upon the peace train Hoo-ah-eeh-ah-hoo-ah This is the peace train Get your bags together Come bring your good friends too Because it's getting nearer Soon it will be with you Come and join the living It's not so far from you And it's getting nearer Soon it will all be true Peace train sounding louder Ride on the peace train Hoo-ah-eeh-ah-hoo-ah Come on the peace train I've been crying lately Thinking about the world as it is Why must we go on hating? Why can't we live in bliss? For out on the edge of darkness There rides the peace train Peace train take this country Come take me home again Peace train sounding louder Ride on the peace train Hoo-ah-eeh-ah-hoo-ah Come on the peace train Come on, come on, come on the peace train... ----
Tommy Sawyer
Cat Stevens - Moonshadow Oh, I'm bein' followed by a moonshadow, moonshadow, moonshadow Leapin and hoppin' on a moonshadow, moonshadow, moonshadow And if I ever lose my hands, lose my plough, lose my land, Oh if I ever lose my hands, Oh if.... I won't have to work no more. And if I ever lose my eyes, if my colours all run dry, Yes if I ever lose my eyes, Oh if.... I won't have to cry no more. Oh I'm bein' followed by a moonshadow, moonshadow, moonshadow Leapin' and hoppin' on a moonshadow, moonshadow, moonshadow And if I ever lose my legs, I won't moan, and I won't beg, Yes if I ever lose my legs, Oh if.... I won't have to walk no more. And if I ever lose my mouth, all my teeth, north and south, Yes if I ever lose my mouth, Oh if.... I won't have to talk... Oh I'm bein' followed by a moonshadow, moonshadow, moonshadow Leapin' and hoppin' on a moonshadow, moonshadow, moonshadow Did it take long to find me? I asked the faithful light. Did it take long to find me? And are you gonna stay the night? Oh I'm bein' followed by a moonshadow, moonshadow, moonshadow Leapin' and hoppin' on a moonshadow, moonshadow, moonshadow

MCM
QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Jul 27 2011, 12:50 PM) Survivor "I Can't Hold Back" There's a story in my eyes Turn the pages of desire Now it's time to trade those dreams For the rush of passion's fire I can feel you tremble when we touch And I feel the hand of fate Reaching out to both of us I've been holding back the night I've been searching for a clue from you I'm gonna try with all my might To make this story line come true Can ya feel me tremble when we touch Can ya feel the hand of fate Reaching out to both of us This love affair can't wait I can't hold back, I'm on the edge (I can't hold back) Your voice explodes inside my head I can't hold back, I won't back down Girl it's too late to turn back now Another shooting star goes by And in the night the silence speaks to you and I And now the time has come at last Don't let the moment run too fast I can feel you tremble when we touch And I feel the hand of fate reaching out to both of us There's a story in my eyes, turn the pages of desire Now it's time to trade those dreams For the rush of passion's fire I can't hold back, I'm on the edge (I can't hold back) Your voice explodes inside my head I can't hold back, I won't back down Girl it's too late to turn back now Oh No! Please don't do that again! Those lyrics looked familiar so I looked up Survivor on Spotify.. I remember them but I had completely forgotten how many hits this band had.. now I can't seem to stop listening, cause I'm back in high school!!! ARRRRGGGHHH!! Hatchetaxe&saw
Queen - Save Me - lyrics & music by Brian May It started off so well They said we made a perfect pair I clothed myself in your glory and your love How I loved you, How I cried... The years of care and loyalty Were nothing but a sham it seems The years belie we lived the lie I love you 'til I die Save me, save me, save me I can't face this life alone Save me, save me, save me... I'm naked and I'm far from home The slate will soon be clean I'll erase the memories To start again with somebody new Was it all wasted, All that love? I hang my head and I advertise A soul for sale or rent I have no heart I'm cold inside I have no real intent Save me, save me, save me I can't face this life alone Save me, save me, ooooohhhhh... I'm naked and I'm far from home Each night I cry I still believe the lie I'll love you, 'till I die Save me, save me, ohhhhhh, save me Don't let me face my life alone Save me, save me, ooh... I'm naked and I'm far from home

Ancient Ways
I would never classify Neil Young as soft rock but this is in the spirit of the thread: Come a little bit closer Hear what I have to say Just like children sleepin' We could dream this night away But there's a full moon risin' Let's go dancin' in the light We know where the music's playin' Let's go out and feel the night Because I'm still in love with you I wanna see you dance again Because I'm still in love with you On this harvest moon When we were strangers I watched you from afar When we were lovers I loved you with all my heart But now it's gettin' late And the moon is climbin' high I want to celebrate See it shinin' in your eye Because I'm still in love with you I wanna see you dance again Because I'm still in love with you On this harvest moon Because I'm still in love with you I wanna see you dance again Because I'm still in love with you On this harvest moon

And I'm not even a gigantic fan of his but man what a hugely talented musician. His mellow stuff like Harvest Moon, Only Love Can Break Your Heart, etc., etc. is always just so beautiful. Fred Star
Glen Campbell - Wichita Lineman I am a lineman for the county. And I drive the mainroad. Searching in the sun for another overload. I hear you singing in the wire. I can hear you thru the whine. And the Wichita Lineman, is still on the line. I know I need a small vacation. But it don't look like rain. And if it snows that stretch down south, won't ever stand the strain. And I need you more than want you. And I want you for all time. And the Wichita Lineman, is still on the line. And I need you more than want you. And I want you for all time. And the Wichita Lineman, is still on the line (One of many.. but the lyrics highlighted stand out more than any other, i think). laughedatbytime
It's not soft rock, and it's definitely not from a soft rock album, but the best example of sensitive lyrics I've heard is from the Who, in the song "Bargain". I'd gladly lose me to find you I'd gladly give up all I had To find you I'd suffer anything and be glad I'd pay any price just to get you I'd work all my life and I will To win you I'd stand naked, stoned and stabbed I'd call that a bargain The best I ever had The best I ever had I'd gladly lose me to find you I'd gladly give up all I got To catch you I'm gonna run and never stop I'd pay any price just to win you Surrender my good life for bad To find you I'm gonna drown an unsung man I'd call that a bargain The best I ever had The best I ever had I sit looking 'round I look at my face in the the mirror I know I'm worth nothing without you In life one and one don't make two One and one make one And I'm looking for that free ride to me I'm looking for you I'd gladly lose me to find you I'd gladly give up all I got To catch you I'm gonna run and never stop I'd pay any price just to win you Surrender my good life for bad To find you I'm gonna drown an unsung man I'd call that a bargain The best I ever had The best I ever had

TheAccountant
QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Jul 27 2011, 12:48 PM) REO Speedwagon "Can't Fight This Feeling" I can't fight this feeling any longer. And yet I'm still afraid to let it flow. What started out as friendship, Has grown stronger. I only wish I had the strength to let it show. I tell myself that I can't hold out forever. I said there is no reason for my fear. Cause I feel so secure when we're together. You give my life direction, You make everything so clear. And even as I wander, I'm keeping you in sight. You're a candle in the window, On a cold, dark winter's night. And I'm getting closer than I ever thought I might. And I can't fight this feeling anymore. I've forgotten what I started fighting for. It's time to bring this ship into the shore, And throw away the oars, forever. Cause I can't fight this feeling anymore. I've forgotten what I started fighting for. And if I have to crawl upon the floor, Come crushing through your door, Baby, I can't fight this feeling anymore. My life has been such a whirlwind since I saw you. I've been running round in circles in my mind. And it always seems that I'm following you, girl, Cause you take me to the places, That alone I'd never find. And even as I wander, I'm keeping you in sight. You're a candle in the wind, On a cold, dark winter's night. Totally agree!! another great song.
invisible airwave
Another one that takes me back to my childhood. Gotta love the 80s sax. Richard Marx - Endless Summer Nights Summer came and left without a warning All at once I looked and you were gone And now you're looking back at me Searching for a way that we can be Like we were before Now I'm back to what I knew before you Somehow the city doesn't look the same I'd give my life for one more night Of having you here to hold me tight; oh please Take me there again Oh, oh Chorus: And I remember how you loved me Time was all we had until the day we said goodbye I remember every moment of those endless summer nights I still recall the walks along the beaches And the way your hair would glisten in the sun Rising in the afternoon Making love to you under the moon; Oh-uh-oh Every single breath you took was mine We can have it all again Say that you'll be with me when the sun brings your heart to mine Oh, oh Chorus: And I remember how you loved me Time was all we had until the day we said goodbye And I remember every moment of those endless summer nights Bridge: There's only so much I can say So please don't run away From what we have together It's only you an me tonight So let's stay lost in flight Oh, won't you please surrender Chorus: And I remember how you loved me Time was all we had until the day we said goodbye And I remember every moment of those endless summer nights

Powderfinger
Air Supply - Making Love Out of Nothing at All I know just how to whisper And I know just how to cry I know just where to find the answers And I know just how to lie I know just how to fake it And I know just how to scheme I know just when to face the truth And then I know just when to dream And I know just where to touch you And I know just what to prove I know when to pull you closer And I know when to let you loose And I know the night is fading And I know the time's gonna fly And I'm never gonna tell you everything I've gotta tell you But I know I've gotta give it a try And I know the roads to riches And I know the ways to fame I know all the rules and then I know how to break 'em And I always know the name of the game But I don't know how to leave you And I'll never let you fall And I don't know how you do it Making love out of nothing at all Out of nothing at all, out of nothing at all Out of nothing at all, out of nothing at all Out of nothing at all Making love out of nothing at all Everytime I see you all the rays of the sun are Streaming through the waves in your hair And every star in the sky is taking aim at Your eyes like a spotlight The beating of my heart is a drum, and it's lost And it's looking for a rhythm like you You can take the darkness at the pit of the night And turn into a beacon burning endlessly bright I've gotta follow it 'cause everything I know Well, it's nothing 'til I give it to you I can make the runner stumble I can make the final block I can make every tackle at the sound of the whistle I can make all the stadiums rock I can make tonight forever Or I can make it disappear by the dawn I can make you every promise that has ever been made And I can make all your demons be gone But I'm never gonna make it without you Do you really want to see me crawl And I'm never gonna make it like you do Making love out of nothing at all Out of nothing at all, out of nothing at all Out of nothing at all, out of nothing at all Out of nothing at all, out of nothing at all Out of nothing at all
