The Owl Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Another thought topic, and with the wide age range that we have on the forum, this ought to be fun... So, what is the age difference between you, and the album, or single, that has the earliest release date in your collection.... Album I have with earliest release date: "Please Please Me" by The Beatles: Released on March 22, 1963 My Birthdate: Dec 21, 1986 Age Difference 23 Years, 7 months, and 30 days --------------------------------- That's interesting..... I just turned 24 last month, so I am (roughly) half as old as my oldest album.
Lamelight Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 My earliest released album is probably The Piper at the Gates of Dawn. That makes.. 27 years, 9 months, 6 days
PolarizeMe Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 For me, it'll be Rubber Soul and it's a Greek Vinyl Reissue too btw (Released December 3rd 1965) So that'll be 29 years, 9 months and 17 days if I did the math correctly.
Xanadu93 Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Earliest Released Item The Beatles - "Love Me Do" - recorded October 5, 1962 My birthday November 19, 1993 Difference 31 years, 1 month, 12 days
The Owl Posted January 22, 2011 Author Posted January 22, 2011 I guess you could tack a few months onto my total as well for the Love Me Do single... I only have it on a compilation and on the Past Masters disc, but I guess it's the oldest released track I have, that pre-dates "Please Please Me"
Hatchetaxe&saw Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Album wise, probably one of Miles' early '50's albums. Recorded music, I'd imagine it's something by Blind Lemon Jefferson, mid '20's. When I'm home I'll revert with dates.
shaun3701 Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 the first CD "album" I bought was Nirvana's Nevermind when I was 12.
Xanadu93 Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 QUOTE (shaun3701 @ Jan 22 2011, 06:30 PM) the first CD "album" I bought was Nirvana's Nevermind when I was 12. He means the difference between the oldest-recorded item in your collection, as in when the recording was made, not when the disc itself was made. eta: For example, "Love Me Do" is the oldest recording in my collection, even though it's from my copy of Past Masters which I got last year, and not the original single.
ColdFireYYZ Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Beatles - Love Me Do - 10/5/1962 My Birthday - 9/21/1995 Age Difference: 33 Years, 14 Days
realomind Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Bloody hell, I suddenly feel old lol! I've got a Robert Johnson collection somewhere and I believe his recordings were from 1936-ish. So. Robert Johnson recordings : 1936 My birthday : 1978 Age difference : 42 years
Oracle Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Earliest Record Miles Davis - Milestones (September 2, 1958) Birthday July 10, 1994 Age Difference 35 years 10 months 8 days
rushgoober Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 my earliest recorded discs are probably an early thelonius monk compilation from the mid-50's, but it's definitely something jazz - either Monk or Coltrane or Miles or Ornette Coleman or Sun Ra. born in 69, so roughly 14 years or so?

GeddyRulz Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Oldest album: might be Dave Brubeck's Time Out, released in 1959. Birth year: 1968. Only nine years difference.
circumstantial tree Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 I'm guessing the oldest recording I have is the Beatle's "Revolver" from 1966. I was born in 1969. I think I got Revolver in 1988.
The Lost Xanadu Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Earliest Record: The Beatles - Help! - 8/6/1965 Birthday: 12/27/1987 Difference: 22 years/4 months/21 days
Bastille Dave Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 well, I'm not gonna count cd's cuz they didnt come out til the 80's so I suppose I'll pick a vinyl record of 50's Hits probably released in the early 60's. I was born in '67 so 5, 6, or 7 years difference between vinyl release and my B-day.
tel Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 buddy and the crickets, that'll be the day.....1958 i was born may 1959 1 year!

J0N Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Robert Johnson recordings from up to 1937 = about 53 years difference.
progrush2112 Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 The earliest album I have a date for is 1921. (not sure of exact month and day) The Original Dixieland Jass Band - Clarinet Marmalade Born May 19, 1986, so it predates me by about 65 years.
Soni Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Anybody knows when/if Robert Johnson's music was ever released during his lifetime? That would a 60something gap!
