Silas Lang
And so the Reds limp home after a disastrous 2-8 road trip . I figured it was going to be a tough stretch but ! Really have to get the starting rotation straightened out before the season really starts to unravel. Why doesn't Dusty give Chris Heisey a chance to play every day in left for a few weeks? Oracle
QUOTE (nappy2112 @ May 28 2011, 08:40 PM) QUOTE (softfilter @ May 22 2011, 03:18 PM) Bye, bye Reds... Yeah that Dusty Baker is brilliant ain't he , Let's put .170 hitting Jonny Gomes in the 2 hole. I can't believe he did that. Gomes has never been a good hitter under pressure. We have a 9 game home stand tomorrow anyway. Hopefully we don't go below 500 on the year. I would hate to see this team not give a good performance after last year. Great example of "why they play the game."
Principled Man
My two most vivid memories of the 1990 World Series are: 1. Eric Davis slamming a monster 2-run homer off of Dave Stewart in the 1st inning, Game 1. It sent the very clear message that the Reds were NOT to be messed with.... 2. That obscenely Oakland-biased schmuck Jack Buck getting all indignant at the Cincinnati crowd going crazy at Davis' homerun. Hmmuph, they act like they just won the World Series......he grumbled...... All was made better after Game 4, when ESPN announcers tried to understand how the Reds could have beaten the "mighty" A's. Peter Gammons said it best. The Reds played in a tougher division, tougher league......YES!! In other words, the Reds were BETTER, and the A's were OVERRATED. Albone2112
The announcers were pissing me off as well. It was so obvious they were sniffing the A's jocks!
