Jack Aubrey
I'd heard good things about this one so I picked it up. Anyone else read it? http://images.barnesandnoble.com/images/8380000/8383059.jpg

I think they made a movie of this not too long ago. I can't think of the author's name for the life of me David Guterson Thanks buddy! Good book. A nice book to follow that one would be "House of Sand and Fog" by Andre Dubus III. I've seen a movie titled "House of Sand and Fog", and wasn't too thrilled with it. Are we talking about the same thing?? Thanks for the recommendation!

Koontz just has that knack of touching you with his characters and this was no exception. Huck
QUOTE (Snowman @ Jun 29 2007, 07:13 PM)Guy Sajer - The Forgotten Soldier A diary/book by a young german soldier who fought at the East front. Some heavy stuff! I read that when I was about 16 I think that's the one where he's with the elite Grossdeutschland Regiment? Very good book, I've always been interested to hear things from the German viewpoint, especially on the Russian Front. I used to enjoy the Sven Hassel novels...very very graphic with no holds barred, they don't glorify warfare but just tell of the horrors of war and the Nazi regime. I would reccomend them as long as you don't mind the constant swearing and occasional whoring
