  • Best Rush Experience
I've had numerous great Rush concert experiences - the best was probably taking my daughter to her first show at the age of 2.5. We had a great time in New Orleans and either met or got to see again a lot of wonderful people who helped make our experience safe, memorable and fun! She said: "I see the Rush!"

  1. Just wanted to make sure I informed everyone who expressed interest in this event that we've had to postpone. I lost a close friend back in my home state on Monday. I'm back there now. So my co-host and I moved the Neil event out to May 9. It's one day after the fifth anniversary of the Tulsa R40 show. Sorry for any inconvenience if you were planning to attend today.
  2. It might be a host of other things, but I imagine that's on the list. I amended my post to say if this guy is truly grieving like many others, he might not have been thinking clearly about what he was saying, even though he should have been aware he was being a) broadcast and b) recorded. I think it's the family's call to provide details. I'm sure Geddy and Alex will only say what Neil's family wants shared.
  3. Of any of the active percussionists who have said things, I would believe Mike Portnoy before anyone else. https://www.loudersound.com/news/mike-portnoy-on-the-death-of-rushs-neil-peart-i-broke-down-crying
  4. Please consider this reply as permission for anyone on this board who wants to post this event in another forum. Please just reply to thread to let me know where you posted it so I can keep track. I'll repeat the details and link below: What: Oklahoma/Route 66 Neil Peart Memorial Gathering Who: Rush fans and their family and friends who can safely get to northeast Oklahoma in winter Where: The Rock Cafe, 114 W Main St., Stroud, OK, USA When: February 1, 2020 - 1:30-3:30 US Central Time Why: To share stories & memories and just reflect. It's a fitting location because it's on Route 66. At minimum, it's a tribute to Neil's fondness for the open road. How: Get there however you can. Please RSVP on the Facebook page by noon U.S. Central Time January 24 so the hosts can give the restaurant an approximate headcount ahead of time. For information, and to RSVP, please see the Facebook event. https://www.facebook...49242465979225/
  5. Hope you can make it! Just remember to RSVP on the Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/events/449242465979225/
  6. This was completely an organic thing that developed when I asked if there was a list of memorials. Just think of some place that would be fitting for talking about Neil and organize it!
  7. Awesome! Could you please go to the Facebook link and click "going" or interested? We need to give the restaurant a general number of people. I'll repeat it here for your convenience. https://www.facebook.com/events/449242465979225/
  8. Yes, please! Post it elsewhere, especially if it's not Rush Facts 'N' Photos - it's already there. I am not able to go, being in Pennsylvania. However, is it OK if I repost this in a private Rush Facebook group I am in? People there have been wanting to hear about memorials.
  9. Hey! I haven't posted in the forum in years. Maybe close to a decade? I apologize for my absence. Hope y'all are well! Another Rush fan from a different Facebook Rush group and I will host a memorial meetup at a restaurant on Route 66. This is just a chance for fans to get together and share memories and gain mutual support from one another. 10. One other thought: It's evident Nick was in there kicking their butts, pushing them to the limits, especially Neil. He is playing no small part in keeping them relevant, fresh and inventive.
  11. OK, just got the chills singing "Can't stop thinking big." Brrr! This is GREAT stuff!
  12. QUOTE (Mara @ Jun 1 2010, 07:39 AM) I am floating on a cloud of Rushy happiness right now. We had a power outage last night so I couldn't download until this morning. My CD burner is busted so I've swiped the husband's iPod. Both songs are f***ing incredible. More than I dared expect - and I am always fairly optimistic about Rush output. I find the polarity of the two tracks interesting. Caravan is so upbeat, and BU2B is definitely dark, both musically and lyrically. It's complex, yet stripped down. Sharp edges. So far I prefer BU2B. I still don't care for the title, but who gives a shit, because the song is just amazing. I am still awed. Can't wait for the rest of this album. I think you've captured the sentiment well here Mara! Yeah 'BU2B' is definitely the darker of the two and I'll need to take a closer look at the lyrics to see what I think. I am digging through "Caravan" more often at this stage and so far like it more. As others have said, they've really set the bar high for the rest of the album. I know they are up for the task though!!
  13. Sorry I have to do this: I'm so glad they "can't stop thinking big!" Haven't thoroughly examined both songs, I'm on my third or fourth listen to "Caravan." It's incredible - it takes musical concepts explored over several phases of their careers - including "S & A" and "Counterparts" to greater heights. Depending on how they do the rest of "Clockwork Angels" we could be in for their best album in decades.
  14. QUOTE (Dax @ Apr 29 2010, 07:24 AM) QUOTE http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk131/Zissouz/Rush%202010/cwbest.jpg Perhaps this will help some to make choices on where they are willing to sit. Thanks for the photos, i'm in row F in the section the photographer is in next to the center aisle. Gives me an idea of what it'll be like. It looks like our seats are to the right of the photographer (he's looking at and possibly (sigh) in the way of the Geddy-side support. Might look at some way to trade up, or maybe we'll just deal.
  15. We got tickets in an upper section. My wife did the searching and she sure wouldn't have sat on anything had she known it was impacting someone else. In fact, some of the pages timed out and she had to start over at one point. I miss the days when you had to stand in line at the department store and get what they had available. Seemed more fair and certainly was cheaper. So yes, pre-sales do suck.
