PuppetKing2112
TRF is disappointing me now. It's been almost two whole days since the tour announcement and there hasn't been a new setlist-guessing thread. There have been threads about specific songs' chances, but this is the thread to post either your guesses or hopes for the entire set. I tried to make mine as realistic as possible, with the stuff we know will happen (MP in full, 2 new songs, 8 minutes for a drum solo, and a handful of other songs they can't not play) while leaving room for some songs I'd like to see brought back. Check it: SET I Marathon Dreamline The Analog Kid Jacob's Ladder Afterimage (possibly presented as a tribute to John Rutsey) Vapor Trail New Song #1 Freewill Middletown Dreams Xanadu --> Hemispheres Prelude (a la Counterparts tour) SET II Tom Sawyer Red Barchetta YYZ Limelight The Camera Eye Witch Hunt Vital Signs 2112 Overture/Temples Subdivisions Cut to the Chase New Song #2 Malignant Narcissism Drum Solo Presto (acoustic) A Farewell to Kings (acoustic) Far Cry Closer to the Heart ENCORE The Spirit of Radio Fly by Night In the Mood Total Time: 2:

PuppetKing2112
QUOTE (peoplecanteatmachinefood @ Apr 10 2010, 08:24 PM) Here's mine: It will include The Camera Eye somewhere. I bet I'll be the only one in this thread who's 100% right... I can actually do you one better: Not only will include TCE somewhere, but wherever it is in the setlist it will be directly preceded by Tom Sawyer, Red Barchetta, YYZ, and Limelight and followed by Witch Hunt and Vital Signs. In that order.
SunlightOnChrome
Everyone seems to think that Moving Pictures will be played all in set 2. I was kind of thinking they would play side 1 at the end of set 1 and side 2 at the beginning of set 2, using the break as time to flip the LP for those old enough to have seen an LP. Hey, that's a good idea! End the first set with 'Limelight' and start the second set with 'The Camera Eye'! That would rock! Although that would be a pretty big LP if it'd take 20 minutes to flip over. Edited April 11, 2010 by Show Don't Tell

greg2112
I agree with those who have put 2112/Temples as the opener, and Im praying that this will be the case as I cant think of a more awesome beginning. I also think it will go well with the "time machine" theme.

Marathon, The Analog Kid, Jacob's Ladder, Afterimage, Vapor Trail, Middletown Dreams, Cut to the Chase, Presto, A Farewell to Kings, Closer to the Heart, Fly by Night, and In the Mood are all on your realistic setlist?!? In addition to the rare ones we know of like Vital Signs and The Camera Eye? Are you sure this isn't just a wishlist in spite of what you said? Try maybe 1 or 2 of those and way more of the Secret Touch, One Little Victory, Red Sector A, The Big Money, Workin' Them Angels, Roll the Bones type songs and then you'll have a realistic setlist. Your list would be awesome to me. There's also a greater chance that they'll play nothing but Michael Jackson songs. Holy crap, there are going to be a lot of mad people around here in a couple of months.
cygnus_thegodofbalance
How about Xanadu as the opener? Imagine the lights going out and the fog coming off the stage..then Alex starts opening on the guitar and pedal, all before breaking out into the opening riff! Of course, you'd have to be indoors for this to work...

I also think it will go well with the "time machine" theme. It may sound like a good idea until you realize that at the vast majority of the shows they'd be playing that in broad daylight which would kill the power of it. I can't think of a better way to destroy the impact of that piece. Plus, a third of the crowd will still be looking for their seats.

Holy crap, there are going to be a lot of mad people around here in a couple of months. I had thought CTTH was practically a given. I also seen to remember rumblings that AFTK was rehearsed before the second leg of the S&A Tour in 2008. As for Fly By Night, well, that was merely a wish. I based the rest of my set around songs I've heard the guys say they were interested in playing through the past few years (I seem to remember Alex mentioning "Grand Designs"), or songs that the band were rumored to have been practicing (CTTH and AFTK). Trust me, if I posted the setlist I'd LIKE to see, it'd have "Where's My Thing?," "Chain Lightning," "Open Secrets," all of "Xanadu," etc.
