  1. Rush is too classy to not show up like I want, so I could see them using Tom Cochrane. He inducted them into something a while back (Canadian HOF maybe???) I wouldn't be shocked to see the I Love You Man guys back. It might be fun if it was Animal.
  2. It's funny you say this. I have had a similar experience with the last few albums, I listen to them and think, Oh no, I don't really like this. Then after 5 - 10 listens it hits me. On S&A I just couldn't understand what the fuss was over Workin Them Angels. It just didn't sound good to me. Then about 6 months later it suddenly was my favorite song from the album. I haven't gotten enough real good listens to CA yet, but I do like it so far, there are a couple of songs that will take a little time to grow in me.

    big money

So I guess the answer for Rush is to simply stop touring and recording. That would solve all these problems. Of course, then you would just bitch that they still have another great album in them and they are selfishly keeping it away from their fans. Have you seen the ticket prices for comparable acts? Van Halen is selling tickets for $100 in the area Rush charged $60. I paid $100 per ticket for each of the last 4 Rush shows I went to and sat no worse then the 6th row.
  4. I loved Geddy's line: "There are a lot of empty calories on the radio" So true... Yeah, that was my favorite line of the show.
  5. I have to vote PW. As a Rush fan I'm a non-conformist. The popular choice would be MP, therefore I am forced to vote for PW. Plus, it has TSOR.
  6. QUOTE (D3strukt @ Sep 30 2011, 01:15 PM) Actually, their tours are relatively freaking short. Compared to ACDC who are older than them TECHNICALLY play harder, also their last tour was 18 months long. The compromise to that is, that they only play for 2 hours. Louder doesn't mean harder. I can't play an instrument, but I think I can safely say Rush's music is more difficult to play.
  7. QUOTE (trenken @ Sep 27 2011, 07:38 PM)QUOTE (GUP1771 @ Sep 27 2011, 09:26 PM) QUOTE (trenken @ Sep 27 2011, 08:46 PM) Rush doesnt seem to care, and even joke about it, so I dont care. I think they should be in on their accomplishments alone, but it seems like you need to have had a high level of commercial success, or be a pioneer of some king, and Rush really wasnt much of either so they keep getting snubbed. They only had mainstream success for a couple short years, and they were never really pioneers of anything, not like Metallica was, or Run DMC as 2 very different examples. Rush never started any new trends, they've always just reflected what was going on around them already, and just did it better than everyone else. I guess that isnt really good enough for the hall. Didn't Rush pretty much invent prog metal? Or at least had a major influence in shaping that genre? I don't recall any other band that played that heavy like that, but had so much progressive elements in their music. I could be completely wrong on that. I am young, and wasn't around that time, so I might not know of others. With that being said, I doubt that would have any merit in the Hall's eyes since it is prog after all, and they hate anything that is prog from what we have come to see. So, I understand your point completely, I was just wondering if what I said had any significance (if say prog wasn't looked at so negatively in the Hall's eyes.) Nope. There were many prog bands before them. One being Yes who started many years before Rush, had more commercial success, and still never got in because there were prog bands around before them! A different form of prog of course, but it had already been started before Yes came around, like 6 years before Rush's first album came out, which wasnt even prog. Rush has ALWAYS been a band that did was others were doing, but just tried to do it better, and they often did, but that's not what the hall is looking for. Im not trying to defend them, but they have set rules. I said in the other thread I think and exception will be made for Rush someday, but I do understand why they arent in knowing what they base their selections on. I'm not sure I agree with this. If the hall only lets in those who pioneer trends in music most of the bands that are there shouldn't be. AC-DC, Fleetwood Mac, among others didn't do anything new or special. I'm nor saying they don't deserve to be there, I just don't see how the hall can induct them but not Rush. In all honesty, I hope they are never inducted. It's too late to not be an insult now. Or better yet, refuse the "honor", but they are too classy to do that.
  8. It looks like you still have an odd number, are you still needing one more?
  9. Truth be told, I like my bacon wrapped with bacon. Bacon rap??? Oh yeah - Roll the Bacon. Seriously though, I can't believe no one mentioned Kevin Bacon.
  10. How about an epic instrumental? 20 - 30 min long, recorded all at once with no overdubs. That would be.....awful.....No, awesome....No, awful....Oh man, now I can't decide.
  11. Dammit! I'm the best keyboard player here, Geddy sucks!
  12. Maples, Oaks... The shots of the guys on the wrong instruments were from a pre-recorded video - very funny. And not to be a dick or anything, but, MgCygnus, I was quite happy that security stepped in and sent people back to their seats. I was in the second row of section 5, pretty much directly behind where you and about 25 other people were crowding at the start of the show. I bought those seats because it meant only 1 row of people in front of me. Suddenly there was a large crowd of people there. If they wanted to be closer they should have bought better seats. I thought security did a great job of allowing people to walk up, snap a pic or two and then go back to their seat, which went on all concert long. They got their picture and we kept our view. As far as the show goes, it was as good as everyone else has already said. The stage props were fantastic, Neil's kit was gorgeous (loved the color), and the videos were the funniest yet, especially the one after the show with the I Love You Man characters. Are you sure it isn't Pee Art?
  13. Janie, I received an email from music today Tuesday am alerting me to a pre sale. No citi card, just used my regular old debit card. I purchased my tickets thru them for the last tour also, so I guess I was on the mailing list. I wasn't expecting to be able to buy anything until Sat. so I was pleasantly surprised. I just went back to see what type of tickets were left, but it says that tickets available from them were sold out. Sorry that I didn't see your post earlier.
  14. QUOTE (rushfan1966 @ Apr 13 2010, 04:31 PM) Took me forever, almost 40 minutes, to finally get a hold of ANY tickets, but I finally did. I didn't get the floor but thats OK. I got row 1 of a close section so My boy and I will be happy. The prices were the same but what the hell its And remember, once you get there you will be a lot closer than it looks like on the map. At least that's how it is for me. I always think I'm so far away when looking at the map, but once I get there I think, wow this is closer than I thought.
  15. The VIP package doesn't mean your tickets are the best. You are paying for all the extras. Many of the seats sold with the VIP package are also available in the other pre sales without the package. I just bought 3 seats for the show in Seattle in row 10. Afterwards, I checked the VIP package and what was available was further away than what I had just purchased (but 2 1/2 times the cost). I think I would have gotten the same seats I got whether I did the VIP package or not, I just didn't want all the extras. You should be guaranteed the first 15 rows though, so unless this venue skips some rows it sounds like you may have been hosed.
  16. I got 3 seats in row 10 for White River Amphitheater in Auburn WA . We are way over to Alex's side, but can't complain about row 10. I would have preferred Geddy's side as we were on Alex's side in row 16 last time at the Gorge, but I was afraid to throw those seats back in the hope of getting the other side. Pretty pumped, row 16 felt like we were part of the show, so I'm excited about this one.
  17. I'd rather have the scantly clad bosomy young women NOT in cages. My motto is release the bosoms!
  18. To the original point of fans wanting the old equipment back, and the boys not really going that way: I think it is natural for fans to feel this way, bit I am glad Rush doesn't pander. As a fan, seeing the old instruments and maybe even kimonos takes us back to the time that we fell in love with that song. For Rush it would be more like moving backwards. Sure, it would be cool to see the double necks and bass drums again, but Rush has always been about going forward. What makes Rush's music so good is that it doesn't chase the style of the period. If it did, it wouldn't hold up. Instead, it reflects where they are at that moment and what is influencing them as musicians at that time.
  19. Everyone seems to think that Moving Pictures will be played all in set 2. I was kind of thinking they would play side 1 at the end of set 1 and side 2 at the beginning of set 2, using the break as time to flip the LP for those old enough to have seen an LP.
  20. I think that the bottom line to this is, Rush lyrics mean what you think they mean. That is the beauty of bands like Rush, the songs work on many different levels. I like to listen to bands like AC/DC and ZZ Top once in a while, but it is no mystery what their songs are about, sex and/or partying. That is fine if you just want something rockin' to listen to sometimes. I prefer something that will make me think a little. But once in a while I want to hear Godzilla or for Those About to rock.
