I could never get into Trek TNG...not enough action like in the original series

Oh it's awesome. Of all Trek some of the best characters come from this show IMO.

Capt. Picard, Data, Riker, & Worf.

I'd put them up there with the original's big 3 of Kirk, Spock, & McCoy.

Overall I think the show was not quite as good as Deep Space Nine though I know I'm in the minority.

DS9 was a great show, but I think it was almost TOO character driven with not enough action. When they started dealing with the Delta Quadrant it got better as at least they were traveling as opposed to a stationary space station where all the action had to come to them.

Still a great show, as all the Star Trek series have been. yes.gif trink39.gif cool.gif

in no particular order...

The Shield

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

Star Trek: The Next Generation

Pardon The Interruption

Monty Python's Flying Circus

Sportscenter

Cheers

All in the Family

M*A*S*H

Match Game

As a side note, the Sopranos would have been number one for me, if it hadn't been for the epic failure that was season 6A and 6B, just an awful end to what had been a really great series to that point.

Picard being dull is a matter of opinion but I have to come to Data's defense. Like I mentioned earlier, I also had problems getting into The Next Generation after I fell in love with Star Trek via The Original Series. At first glance, Data does seem like a ripoff of Spock, and since Spock was (and still is) my favorite Star Trek character, that was one of the reasons I held a grudge against The Next Generation for a while. But after watching it, Data is actually the complete opposite of Spock. Sure, they both are outsiders and both have difficulty in relating to humans, but they are coming from opposite ends of a spectrum. Spock hates his human half and the emotions that come with it (least he did in the series, he later seems to come to peace with it in the movies) and represses it in favor of his Vulcan heritage. While Data, made to appear human but ultimately still not, longs for human emotions more than anything else.

Spock as a character was great for bringing attention to human flaws, the things as a species we should work on, while Data as a character, highlights our positives.

well, it doesn't have to be new jersey, it could be georgia or indiana or california. the point is, for someone who is norwegian, you sure watch a hell of a lot of american television! tongue.gif

not like there's anything wrong with that. no.gif
