  1. from ATWAS: Thank you! How ya'll doin' tonight? We'd like to do something for ya...that's on our Fly By Night album...this is called "Anthem"
  2. I listened this morning, it was pretty good, keeping the basic song arrangement. I'd give it a thumbs up.
  3. I could live with these +1----That would be a perfect RUSH concert. Sorry about the screw up, I posted wrong and tried to correct it... I was trying to say, although it wasn't the entire 3 LP's, I saw #1 in 1978.
  4. "We'd like to do for you side one from our latest album, this is called 2112" (my favorite)
  5. Yes! I thought this was pretty soon all things considered. The "official" setlist is as follows: Short comic intro... 1. New undisclosed song from "Clockwork" 2. Garden Road 3. Tom Sawyer 4. Working Man Encore: "Bad Romance" with special appearance by Lady(?) Gadget In an exclusive interview Alex, Geddy and Neil expressed that they're finally getting that "4th man" to help out, and that they're tired of those loooooong concerts. "No DVD this time, not again", Alex was quoted as saying. (Don't know about the rest of you, but I'm manning my PC 24/7)
  6. Honestly, and fairly, they should rename it "The Music Hall of Fame". Anyone with a one-hit wonder, Disco (worst 2 weeks of my life), or can shred an accordion is a shoe-in. It's not that Rush isn't worthy of the HOF, it's the HOF isn't worthy of Rush.
  7. I think the term "sold out" is a bit worn. This phrase comes from diehards who would rather see their band 30 years later still playing small clubs and the like. Some of Greenday's fans were pissed that they "sold out". Genesis, the same. The word "successful" comes to mind.
  8. I always get the dvd's and such, and always will. However, I saw the show in Greenville, SC this year and to be honest, they should've made that show a dvd. It was better than the Cleveland show. Still, it's a good show, miss the outro...
  9. This is being overthought, it's a fantasy, (like scientists on Discovery Channel talking about how the blasters in "Star Wars" couldn't actually work...) This was the very first song from Rush I ever heard, and I was hooked. You need to think about the time this song came out, with a 70's theme, if someone heard it for the first time today, well, it's not the same. It is, however, an incredible piece of music.
  10. Even though I didn't read the list, this is apples and oranges. This is opinion generated no matter how you look at it. Having said that, I don't really like judging guitarists in a top ten list because everyone has different reasons, a musicians viewpoint will differ from the casual fan. If you were there in the late 70's and heard Eddie's incredible guitar shredding for the first time you know what I mean, it was mind blowing, no one ever heard anything like it. (In fact, I remember them playing "Runnin' With the Devil" in a local commercial for a bar with live bands before it was played on the radio. People wanted to hear the song, and didn't know who it was). Ed can shred, no doubt, he was an innovator. He'll always be used in comparison when discussing the Axe. But about the time "VH" came out, Rush was touring the Hemispheres already. Alex could already shred, but his playing was more than that. It was meaningful, emotional, aggressive, even beautiful at times. Just when you think you've got Alex's technique figured out, he'd be on to something else altogether. When I sum it all up, I've got lots of favorites, for different styles and sounds, but Alex, to me, is the epitome of guitar innovation.

    Well?

Apples and oranges here, people. Tony is a little better, but that's all he plays (at one time). (Especially when you try to compare him with who he replaced, the Wizard. I know , no comparison). Now, as we all know, Geddy's got his hands full, most people would have a time just trying that in a studio, but live? All in all, I'm just biased, I've got nothing against Tony.
  12. I read an interview with Sting about that "reunion tour" and he said after just a few shows he realized this was a bad idea. He said the three of them just couldn't get on the same page while on the stage. Shame, too, I wanted to see them.
  13. Come on, let's not do this again. When S&A Live came out, there was a member here who lost all kinds of sleep because during "Tom Sawyer", Alex's bobble head still shook a little after Neil's and Geddy's stopped. Just remember, they're only human...

    Rush on Radio

Here in Augusta, Ga., when it was Alex's b'day, the djay acknowledged this with a "deep cut". They played "New World Man". Not a bad song, but not exactly highlighting Alex's prowess, I could tell the dj didn't know much Rush. I thought about calling and getting them to play "La Villa", it is a masterpiece of music and Alex shines.
