VampireBiscuits
QUOTE (Silas Lang @ Nov 6 2009, 08:22 PM) I could never get into Trek TNG...not enough action like in the original series It took me a while to warm up to Next Generation too. For a while I outright refused to watch it, its not as fun or campy as the original, not quite as warm w either, but once I really gave it a try, talked to some people who liked it and got some good episodes recommended to me- it really grew on me. When you get to know the characters its really a great show, and it does have some good action sequences. I ended up buying all 7 seasons just recently. Riker should've been captain The Next Generation I just find to be a more intelligent show than the original Star Trek, even though the original series was great too. I'm glad Picard is different - we've already seen the campy libidinous swashbuckling macho hero type - it was time for someone a bit more complex and cerebral. I was reading at some point from someone involved with TNG that the first show was more action-oriented and the second was more character-oriented. I guess I enjoy both, and both shows of plenty of both, but definitely prefer character development over action in general.
