Gonna pick this up tomorrow. I for one am glad there's no more shitty growling. The vocals were the one thing stopping me from totally getting into these guys. I saw them live for the Ghost Reveries tour and musically they were awesome, but those shitty death metal vocals kill it for me. I know the die hards are pissed about it, but I coldn't be happier. common001.gif

The beer is typing, I mean talking.

I jumped the gun again when I said earlier that this album was a bore. Many old school Opeth fans probably hate this record. Glad the growling shit is gone, although I did love how they changed it up on their last few records.

I think I actually said that listening to "Heritage" was like listening to it at half speed on the moon."

I like that statement but once again I am wrong.

"Heritage" is my ALBUM OF THE YEAR thus far.

"GOD IS DEAD!"

Neil Peart would love "Devil's Orchard."

I originally voted for "Watershed" as I originally thought that it was their apex album.

I'm not so sure anymore. Guess I'm glad the original poster didn't include "Heritage."

I might have picked it. Just like picking an Opeth member's ripe head off of the Tree Of Progressive Rock Knowledge.

God am I slow when taking on new records.

I listen and listen and hear all the people abuzz but I am always at stage one. I am cracking through "I feel the dark" right now, it's got the classic Opeth "openings" that I love so much.

I'm not particularly crazy about the 70s vintage production, though. I like their cleaner sound.

I told you it needed time.

As always, the best albums take the most time to appreciate. Why the heck is this? Meh, who cares. Getting to find the point of awesomeness is worth it.

ALBUM OF THE YEAR DUCKY!!!!

RETRO METAL!!!!!

I just bought a single ticket to see them at The Warfield!

Wendy hates this band even though she listens to "Heritage" every night.

She hates the growling vocals but I keep telling her that there are none on this album.

She doesn't listen to me. She just tunes out the musical magic.

Gompers! There is hope for me after all!

This album rules!!

I am an agnostic, yet "God is dead" repeats over and over inside my head!!

EPIC RECORD!

Does OPETH play "Heritage" all the way through in concert?

Is that a spoiler question??

I couldn't resist any longer and I Googled the setlist for the current tour. I won't give any spoilers. I'm only posting because one of the songs listed, if they keep it in the set, will be sure to raise some eyebrows.
