Oh ick. That just reminded me that Kenny G is from Seattle too.

Jimmy Sturr - He's won I think, 15 consecutive polka grammys - probably because no one else is interested in playing polka music I guess...

and

One of the members of the band Trixter owns a restaurant here in town.

That's it from the onion zone...

So far, all I can think of are The Fray who are from Denver.

..but I didn't know about them until they got big.

Can't think of any other Denver bands.

What she said, funny to see the list of bands from here. I do miss the good ole days smile.gif

The Gits were more local I think though they were known across the Country from Club tours and especially in California. Mia Zapata, vocalist, bacame an icon of the Grunge scene after her murder at the beginning of the 1990's. Her body was found on Capital Hill close to the Comet Tavern- to which she was headed- with her hoodie up over her head and the drawstrings wrapped around her neck.

She was a nice girl, I liked her smile.gif

I lived in Burlington at the time, but I used to go hang out in Lynwood back in those days, so I totally missed out on the beginnings of the Seattle scene.

I've been in Bellingham for the past decade, which gets lumped in with the "Seattle band" thing the few times we put out a band. The only ones I can think of right off the top of my head are Death Cab For Cutie, the Posies, and I guess the original lead singer from Jefferson Airplane was from here.

So, what bands are from your home town?

Chevelle is from Grayslake, IL, which is the next town over from me.

If we include all of the Chicago area, we have:

Smashing Pumpkins
Stabbing Westward
Disturbed
Ministry

I'm sure some other Chicagoans can help out.

So, who's from your hometown?

You forgot my all time Chicago favorite;

John Mayer
Micheal Boltin

off topic:

I just started getting into John Mayer, as my band is now doing "I Don't Need No Doctor" and "Everyday I Have the Blues". He is simply an awesome guitar player. I had no idea.

On topic:

Joey Belladonna from Anthrax

I knew him growing up as Joe Bellardini. He was an awesome hockey goalie.

I'm not a John Mayer fan, but I would agree from just what i've heard, he is a very good guitar player.

I'd be fine with Mayer if he'd just shut up. His voice gets on my last nerve, and his lyrics are shit.

I thought they were from downstate...buy you're right.

I could also throw out Cheap Trick. They are from Rockford, which is about an hour west of me.
