    Rush and 1D

I am a father of three, two of them girls. Both of them obsessed with One Direction. I keep asking which direction? Last night, while the oldest one was doing her nightly stalking, she came across a picture of Harry Stiles (sp.?). She showed it to me and asked if I knew what it was. He was wearing a Presto shirt. One I had never seen before. Too funny. I told her that 1D had just elevated their status... I will try and post the pic later... (As if anyone cares...) This from a guy who pulled off the freeway to take a picture of my odometer as it reached 2112 miles...
  3. No TS??? My son just took care of that by playing a few cords on the guitar... Actually weird that this could be the first concert I've seen without that being played...
  4. Ok, in this thread quit posting stupid shit. Let the folks who are at the show post the set list as it progresses. The rest of us can lurk... Jesus, who cares how many of us are online? If you really want to know hit the back button and see how many are reading...
  5. Just picked up a new Chrysler 300C - fob and push button. Never had a push button before. The remote start feature is cool too. Especially during the brutal So Cal winters!!!

    Fanpack!!!!

QUOTE (darth by tor @ Jun 7 2012, 03:29 PM) My fan pack was waiting for in my mailbox when I got home tonight! What a great package and the album sounds AMAZING! The boys have no business being this good this late in their career but I am SO glad they are Cranking Clockwork in the Hood! That is great news!!! You should really start a duplicate thread saying the same thing!!!
  8. QUOTE (Jaminbenb @ Jun 7 2012, 12:42 PM) Ok...received the fan pack today...my only complaint is that the "digipack" CD case doesn't fit in my CD rack! It's TOO BIG Obviously, because they can't stop thinking big, they can't stop thinking big...
  9. Really love the garden so far...
  10. they would have asked David Lee Roth to come out and be the front man... OMG, these guys are nearing 60 years old. They have made more than millions. Short of Alex punching another hotel employee, there is no reason these guys need another $. I really think they are playing more for themselves than for us... And I am happy to spend my hard earned dollars to their benefit...
  11. Almost through the first listen... Really like it so far. It seems to me like this has little bits and pieces from all their "phases". There are real hard lines, like Caress of Steel. There are times I am reminded of Presto or Hold Your Fire. I am a lifelong fan. I once told my buddy Matt (in 1983) that if RUSH put out a disco album, I would learn to like it. The closest thing I can relate to that is Vapor Trails... Just getting The Garden...Wow! My take, there is enough for all of us to like. Old school fans will love the harder stuff and eschew the mellower (sp.) stuff. I really think this album is so much more for RUSH than for us. It is similar to 2112. After COS, they were on the ropes. Their record company said no more concept albums. They said okay. And then produced 2112... I feel this is totally for them. Everyone else be damned. I love it! As a mid-40s guy, I don't have the time to digest new music. I'll make the time for CA!
  12. QUOTE (treeduck @ Jun 2 2012, 10:42 PM) Happy 65th birthday! 65th??? I would have thought not a day over 59!!! Have a great one! on...
  13. QUOTE (treeduck @ May 3 2012, 10:44 AM) YES! Except for mine, cos they're good! What he said! Best polls ever...
  14. Way to go, Metaldad!!! Love your posts.
  15. QUOTE (trenken @ Feb 2 2012, 08:32 AM) QUOTE (rushgoober @ Feb 2 2012, 11:03 AM) I think it's SO COOL that Rush made the show in some way! And Randy's compliment was awesome - usually Rush get slammed for their vocals, so for him to say something nice about Geddy in front of a national audience was really cool. Did you notice how geeky and nerdy the guy was singing the song? Nothing wrong with geeky or nerdy, mind you, but we're certainly not breaking THAT stereotype in this instance. No, noone noticed how nerdy that kid was. He looks like much of what ive seen at Rush concerts. I think most people think thats what many Rush fans look like. As soon as he mentioned he was singing Rush, I was like, "Oh it figures..." I was relaying the idol scene to my wife and made a comment about how much of a nerd the guy was... Without missing a beat, she says, "A nerdy guy signing Rush? Shocking!!! Duh! You're an accountant..."

  17. I would go for sure. The only thing better would be if the Steelers were playing... My perfect daily double!
  18. So a guy walks into his bedroom with a sheep in tow. His wife is reading in bed. He says, "See, this is the cow that I have to have sex with when you aren't in the mood!" His wife snaps back, "You idiot, that's not a cow, that's a sheep." He replies, "I was talking to the sheep!"
  19. In an attempt to avoid the fate of several family members, Rex hurries down the street disguised as a vegetable vendor...
  20. Congrats GB&R!!! Way to go!!!
  21. Did you ever wonder why there are no dead penguins on the ice in Antarctica - where do they go? Wonder no more ! ! ! It is a known fact that the penguin is a very ritualistic bird which lives an extremely ordered and complex life. The penguin is very committed to its family and will mate for life, as well as maintaining a form of compassionate contact with its offspring throughout its life. If a penguin is found dead on the ice surface, other members of the family and social circle have been known to dig holes in the ice, using their vestigial wings and beaks, until the hole is deep enough for the dead bird to be rolled into and buried. The male penguins then gather in a circle around the fresh grave and sing: "Freeze a jolly good fellow" "Freeze a jolly good fellow." "Then they kick him in the ice hole."
