i love the hell outta good ol' elton. his 70s stuff is excellent. 80s through 90s is kinda hit and miss but still good. now that he's kinda goin back to his roots, he's puting out grade A material all over again. He's probably my favorite solo artist of all time. i was just wondering what everybody thought of sir elton?

ps tiny dancer is the crap!

One of the best songwriters to ever grace the planet. Mabey the best actually, but that's a bit bold.

I love just about everything he has ever done.

A few years ago he released a live dvd that was filmed in Turkey, Live at Ephesus, that is the most amazing live sound I have ever heard. I'm an audio freak and this concert is the most natural, clean sound I have ever heard. Plus his playing and vocal that night were better than I have ever heard. Get it.

There's lots of it on YouTube: (although youtube audio sucks)

Watch his playing on Honky Cat:

When are you gonna come down

When are you going to land

I should have stayed on the farm

I should have listened to my old man

You know you can't hold me forever

I didn't sign up with you

I'm not a present for your friends to open

This boy's too young to be singing the blues

So goodbye yellow brick road

Where the dogs of society howl

You can't plant me in your penthouse

I'm going back to my plough

Back to the howling old owl in the woods

Hunting the horny back toad

Oh I've finally decided my future lies

Beyond the yellow brick road

What do you think you'll do then

I bet that'll shoot down your plane

It'll take you a couple of vodka and tonics

To set you on your feet again

Maybe you'll get a replacement

There's plenty like me to be found

Mongrels who ain't got a penny

Sniffing for tidbits like you on the ground

In the eighties and nineties he was nothing short of shockingly awful, but in the seventies he was the man.

I love Madman Across The Water, Honky Chateau, Don't Shoot Me, Capt. Fantastic and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.

Tiny Dancer is one of those "goose pimple" songs, total genius.

I can't listen to him. I change the station when ever his music comes on, but I'm usually not a fan of anything that you would consider pop.

Middle of the road for me.

There's no question about his undeniable talent though.

Yeah like most artists he had his golden period and his was the 70s. He's been pretty shit since, which is why his shows are mostly made up of his 70s classics.

I think he's an icky stinky pompous pallid knob who is pen pals with Gary Glitter.

His only TINY TINY redeeming quality imo would have to be Candle in the Wind which is actually a lovely song.

Are you trying to say he's a gay man with a small dick??

I think it was Bernie Taupin who co-wrote all the good songs with Elton.

Elton alone is crap.

I wouldn't say he's crap dude..........sure I don't like him that much either, but hey, he does what he does well.......

taupin wrote, if not all of his seventies lyrics. he left in the eighties and they just recently reformed i believe. elton wrote all the music and in my opinion the music is what makes the lyrics work, so alone elton john is not crap..... smilies-8579.png

i guess i shoulda figured that this would happen, but why do people have to bring his sexuallity into a topic about his music? pure ignorance
