This has been a terrible year for gardening with the downpours we have been having all summer, so here are a few from last year.

I love my garden smile.gif

Unfortunately, the weather is rarely that good.

And of course, if you were ever in Scotland you would be more than welcome yes.gif

In fact, I might even break out The Talisker (proper malt whisky, none of that syrupy macallan rubbish that neil drinks)

tangdog and Fridge - beautiful gardnes the both of ya.

tang - for gardening I wish we had your climate up here in Ottawa. I'm somewhat struggling with my tomato plants this year - never mind BANANAS!

common001.gif

You can and should grow bananas! I got 7 bananas and only the dwarf cavendish might make bananas I can eat, but I will have to dig up and overwinter in a dark room or bring it inside.

The other ones are called Musa Basjoo's and they are the most cold hardy banana out there. Left uncovered they die back but will come in many cold areas. I am pretty far south but I am also pretty high. The biggest mountain on the east coast is about 30 miles away.

I grow bananas mostly for the way they look although I am hoping to experiment with cooking with the leaves.

I grow more chile peppers than anything else! Those pictures are forthcoming.

Tangdog - fantastic garden you have as wll there by the way....

It's quite interesting as you have a completely different style to me largely due to the cliomate i suspect. There is just no way in a million years you could grow any sort of banana in the north of Scotland.

Keep the pics coming folks.....

Fridge, I bet you could grow some bananas if you were so inclined. I thought I saw a greenhouse in one of your photos and I know I saw a large rock wall. Some people in colder climes grow the bananas against a rock wall hoping to creat a micro-climate.

I am a member of bananas.org and on the forum there are folks from the UK, Scotland and even banana growers in Norway. If interested check out:

I like this thread. I wish I had pictures of our yard earlier this summer, but the rain stopped and the heat moved in. So, everything is looking really sad.

I hope Fridge doesn't mind if I show up to move in, too. That house is beautiful!

Old photos are cool too! As noted, this year has not been good for gardening in many parts. Feel free to post anything you grew at anytime.

I am sorry that I included 2007 in the thread title. If a mod would remove it, that would be great.

Tangy.....

Those bananas have too much FUR.

Not that there's anything WRONG with that....

unsure.gif

Too much fur? Hmmm.. knowing your captioning skills I am suprised you did not hit up the obvious combo of licking and a cat.

I don't know what was on my banana this morning but it appeared to mating and eating at the same time. Sounds like a Seinfeld episode!

Thanks for pointing me to this thread, Tangdog!

Beautiful gardens. Puts my little flower bed to shame! laugh.gif

This year's been kind of rough on everybody but the peppers. We have more habeneros than we know what to do with, cyannes all over the place, and jalepenos growing huge!

Habenero mustard sauce... firedevil.gif firedevil.gif firedevil.gif firedevil.gif firedevil.gif that can give an endorphine rush. It seems to get hotter every time I use it!

Currently experimenting with a habenero/cyanne vinegar sauce. We have the salt mash going now...

Any suggestions for our jalepenos?
