treeduck Posted December 2, 2006 Share Posted December 2, 2006 This song is one of my favourites, I love the way those chords at the beginning, the main riff is very effective as well. Geddy's voice is rich and emotive at times and reaches up high at others. The guitar solo is amazing and sounds improvised, the middle 8 is inspired and like the rest of the tune is cleverly arranged, it totally rocks... Need I say more...except...cut...cut... Alex's solo rips in that song, and the funny thing is, it wasn't even intended to be the real solo - it was just a placeholder, and he was to come back later and add the real solo but they decided to keep it as-is. Pags Posted December 5, 2006 Share Posted December 5, 2006 Counterparts still ranks as one of my favorite releases from these guys with a return to such a heavy sound with amazing bottom end - and CTTC is probably the highlight of the entire CD.
