rushgoober
i voted for kiss, not because they're the best group up there, but because they're the only one i still really listen to today. hell, if i had some sabbath on cd, i'm sure i'd listen to them occasionally too... PuppetKing2112
Maiden or early Metallica. I voted Maiden. Not thaht much of a metal fan to be honest, though.

Prime Mover and Shaker
The poll asks which one was king, so I said Metallica (almost said Maiden). Some great choices there! Metallica before the Black album... still blows my mind. Metallica after the Black album... still blows...
GeddyRulz
QUOTE (PuppetKing2112 @ May 14 2006, 01:29 PM) Maiden or early Metallica. I voted Maiden. Exactly the same for me. It was between early Metallica and Maiden, and I picked I.M.
telegraphcreeklocal
Judas Priest. K.K.Downing and Glenn Tipton shred. Les Binks was my nickname(Binksters) when surfing and Skateboarding empty swimming pools. I was in junior high in '73 and wasn't into Black Sabbath yet. Me and my stoner buddies were into Judas Priest in '78 in high school. Scorpions, UFO, RUSH, Cirith Ungol (local band), didn't take long to like Sabbath in '79. Black album is hit-and-miss. Everything after is garbage.
madra sneachta
In retrospect, Sabbath were the 'best' band of thopse mentioned, but at the time of my musical awakening in the late '70s, I was an AC/DC fan, and they remained my second favourite band until Rush supplanted them in 1980. My favourite at the time - Thin Lizzy!!!
Moonraker
Iron Maiden. (Still on an Ozzy boycott. I refuse to endorse anyone who so trashes a band deserving of respect like Iron Maiden)

I refuse to endorse anyone who so trashes a band deserving of respect like Iron Maiden) ? im curious please explain ? It stems from Sharon's actions against Iron Maiden on the last night IM played with them on Ozzfest 2005. http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?show...sharon+osbourne
Digital Man
That was too easy, Sabbath all the way.
Cygnalschick
This was a VERY tough choice, as I love a few of the bands listed. So I had to think of which one had the most influence on me for the longest period of time, and that would have to be Metallica But now, I'd easily listen to Maiden, Priest, and Sabbath over Metallica. Black Sabbath is actually up there with Rush as my all time favorites.
Modest Man From Mandrake
Hands down, Sabbath for old school metal.
Hatchetaxe&saw
Sabbath of course. From the debut to Never Say Die, they were outstanding. Wrote the guidebook for the rest to follow.
