  1. I love every Rush album...and I can find some positive redeeming value in every Rush song from every album. It's true!
  2. I have labeled CA as a "masterpiece" as well. I believe it is, at least for me and my listening pleasure. The "rush fanboi" critique is lame, tired, and uninspired. Time to lose that, it's a bad joke.
  3. I'll do 10- Wishbone Ash UFO Rush Neil Young Dan Fogelberg Uriah heep Kansas/Livgren projects Warren Zevon Spirit BTO
  4. It is OK, up until you get to the point that you know every note, every lyric of every Rush song ever recorded. That way when you run across a hater, you can back them down easy with their lack of knowledge.

    The Garden

QUOTE (ReflectedLight @ Aug 17 2012, 09:21 PM) let's just say the garden is not on my playlist. it's tough to listen to. Why limit yourself to "playlists" I just don't get that.
  6. Right on' I've been rockin' to CA on my runs as well....... And I don't even use a player. When "The Garden" queue's up I can't help but relax my stride, lose any thoughts about breath and pace. And recognize the fruits of my labor.
  7. I know that I'm quite fortunate to still be alive considering all of my "dumb ass" misadventures. I'll take what I have and "thank my stars" that I'm "not that way" and quite happily "live it all again" Much better than the alternative is my thought.
  8. QUOTE (NYM86 @ Jul 29 2012, 10:00 PM) QUOTE (clearingsky @ Jul 27 2012, 08:41 PM) No one complained when Ged sang about the goings on in a dog's brain. And now we know about the "constant blur of low-level static" That was a tongue-in-cheek song to begin with, and its lyrics are actually pretty clever. "Tounge-in-Cheek" Tounge firmly planted in cheek when I referenced that "no one complained" about Dog Years lyrically. Lighten up Peoples!
  9. How about the best album ever recorded.........this year? Critics be damned, I say Yes!!

  11. The day I brought the CA disc home, before I had even had a chance to give a listen. I broke open the case and perused the liner notes/lyrics. I knew my 15yr old son had previewed CA earlier and I asked him [flippantly] what his favorite song from the new release was. His instant reply of WTW made me quickly read the preface/song lyric. I held back tears as my human half reflected on being bullied as well as being a bully.
  12. Sure, you might stumble upon it with youtube.....if you're looking.
  13. QUOTE (condemned2bfree @ Jul 25 2012, 01:58 AM) QUOTE (clearingsky @ Jul 25 2012, 02:57 AM) Alchemy, Alchemists, Alchemism..........It's all an unknown topic for me personally. I like the idea and i love the story as it is. Any ties to religion at all? There certainly are parallels. Whats your take on the watchmaker/pedlar, having time up his sleeve? There's an interesting parallel with religion and alchemy. This being the 'philosophers stone' through the 'magnus opus' was supposed to replicate the blood of Christ, that fell on wood. That's why I posted here. I don't know!
  14. The "concept album" as well as the "new" adds a bit to the idea of CA being "better". I love it, as I loved S&A. But make no mistake, this work is a veritable "masterpiece. How sad is the opinion that we'd have been better off without S&A? Disgusting!
  15. The problem here is not with the choice of "The Wreckers" as a single. CA holds a minimum of 4 radio friendly singles that would have captivated the airwaves 25-30 years ago. The problem lies with todays' radio, modern/new rock stations not going play anything from "older" bands....not their demographic. Classic rock stations......well you'd be lucky to hear a new release from any older bands. Prog stations? maybe if you're fortunate enough to live in market to support one. No, radio as it is today is a sad example, and the best music goes unheard to the masses.

Yes I am the lone "High Water" vote.........and I am quite happy to defend it. Okay. Defend it. OK Challenge it. With some knowledge and experience please. It's just that High Water along with Tai Shan are considered a huge mistake to put on HYF and that they collectively drag down the album (which is really not a fan favorite anyway). Add to that the fact that it was put against giants such as Cyg, NatSci, and La Villa, and your choice is really quite incomprehensible to me. There you go " enemy without " as I began my post with "not having a beef" with anyone else's vote, I went on to state that my vote would change with each day. And there is no arguing the popular choices. So my attempt to defend my choice of the album ender to HYF is simply that this album and time period of my life hold quite an important and special time in my life.......and yes indeed I am here to report that we are still happily married and raising 3 high schoolers. And isn't that what it's really about about? Passing along the music of Rush to your children? Reasonable. That might be the most "reasonable" of reponses ever! Thanks I was just wondering whether it was genuine enjoyment of the song or personal attachment to the album. It turned out to be the latter. For better or worse. Not exactly! " High Water" hits hard. Anyone in doubt should give it a clean fresh listen. Without pre-conceived notions, without regard to popularity.

Dude you're the one who came out with guns blazing...obviously you have heard this song attacked before, and you had something in mind at the time of making the comment. So what was it? Gun's Blazin' ? Nah......we'll leave that to the "Poll Creator"
