Which makes sense as he's a terrible writer. That review reads like a high school English class exercise, one that received a C-.

treeduck
He got one thing right, RUSH are indeed a heavy metal rock band! 1
goose
Listeners of the boring Moving Pictures album ultimately got their revenge by boring the members of RUSH... with the tedium of counting millions and millions of dollars from sales.
taurus
typical review for Rush back in those days. Totally useless and just terrible writing. they were just taking their cues from the taste makers of the time

grep
PS: I'd love to hear this dude attempt to play the 'simplistic' bass solo in TCE. Or...maybe not. Edited May 2 by grep
Timbale
This is of course mostly just word salad...meaningless and unsubstantiated and hardly even rising to the level of "opinion" (except for the critique of Geddy's vocals, which although I don't agree, I can understand). But it is interesting that the heavy metal crowd, even in 1981, felt disappointed by Rush's development. I thank god Rush didn't continue to sound like 2112 for the rest of their career - I'll take Signals over it any day of the week.
Principled Man
I'm reminded of an old review of a Rush album in which the so-called critic mostly talked about Perry Farrell. I wish I could remember who it was and what album. I remember thinking, "You stupid TWIT...." Edited May 2 by Principled Man 1
