Agree, to me their Sammy era music as an adult decades later is much more enjoyable. See my prior comments in the recent VH thread.

 

I would rather jam ice picks into my earholes than listen to SAM HALEN!!!! POP POOP!!!!!

I would agree that Dave is lightyears better but Sammy stuff is real good too... maybe not S Tier but still great

For me, I posted they're under-hated because I think they're horrible. I had literally never heard of them before I joined here, and I had heard of Burzum and Cannibal Corpse (not a fan of either). But here, they're beloved by quite a few, as some of the posts illustrate.

 

Anyways, I'm curious about what you mean by distance from the 70s.

Do we have an under-hated thread?

I don't mind HTDAAB (Vertigo aside) and the first half of NLOTH but it's been crap since then. They've gone full Maroon 5 with their sound. All 4 Ramones would be rolling in their grave if they heard that Ramones song tribute from their 2014 album. Nothing even close to punk in sound or attitude.
