My opinion...

 

The Stones were a fading concern in the '70's. I really like Goats Head Soup. Downhill from there. 1981's Tattoo You was the last album I liked. The Who turned into a pretty solid rock band. I love Who's Next and Who By Numbers.

I actually thought it was released in 1979 when I posted. I remembered reading that it was written and recorded on the heels of Some Girls. Using your PeW theory, you'd say this is a 70s album, no?
