Blind Guardian, Rhapsody Of Fire, Saxon...all bands in their third or fourth decade making music that blows fans minds.

Personally? I spin the new Saxon way more than IS. And the new ROF album even more so.

I guess those three don’t fall under my current perception of legendary. Then again, I’ve never spent much time with them.

ROB HALFORD Says It's 'Inevitable' That There Will Be Another JUDAS PRIEST Studio Album

September 16, 2024

In a new interview with Anne Erickson of Audio Ink Radio, JUDAS PRIEST singer Rob Halford, who turned 73 last month, was asked if there will eventually be a follow-up to the band's latest album, "Invincible Shield", which arrived in March. He responded: "Well, it's what we do. I think most bands will tell you that their relevance is based on their music and where they are at that particular moment in their in their life as a band and that's always sustained by the new music that you create. So even though we haven't gone into that world yet, into that new world of PRIEST music, I think that it's inevitable there will be something else. When it will happen. I have no idea."

Rob continued: "This band thrives on the metal that we make, the time that we spend with each other, 'cause there's a lot of love in this band for each other. We appreciate that we need time downtime to go and be who we are outside of the band, which is important, so you can decompress and take a deep breath and rest and chill and then prepare for the next metal assault. But this is what PRIEST has been doing. Fifty years ago, we started with [PRIEST's debut album] 'Rocka Rolla'. Fifty years later, we have 'Invincible Shield'. So, at some point, there's gonna be another one, obviously."

I went up to see them in Canada the other night and I still can't believe how good Rob sounded still. It's been 6 years since I last saw them and he still knocked it out of the park. Even on harder songs like Saints in Hell

The 50th remix of Rocka Rolla mustve finally made it's way to Amazon streaming in the last week.  I am listening to "One For The Road" and 3 minutes in I am amazed.  Even in streaming this remix sounds so clear, so heavy.  Oh hell yes!!

Can't wait for Sad Wings to show up.

They used the old man who cleans the studio, pressed onto the master tapes face first, to give it more weight and make it heavier.

I can hear someone whistling deep in the mix.  Go figure.

If Stephen King wrote that it would be 50,000 words and would include the entire life story of the old man's pet goldfish and the complete history of the knobs on the mixing desk.

I've seen this before! I love this author and wondered what the link to Rocka Rolla's US release might be.

I hate the US cover, I love the UK sleeve the most.

I've been running through the discography again and it is amazing how well Firepower has held up. Redeemer of Souls isn't aging well and seems to fall off hard halfway through.

I'm a big Redeemer of Souls freak actually. Then again I'm a big freak of all of the Halford Priest albums.

I have to say, ROS is my least fave Halford album...I find it as cringe as the KK Priest albums

I think it's still better than Ram It Down, Rocka Rolla, Turbo, or Point of Entry.

My perhaps controversial take is that I also prefer it over Sad Wings of Destiny, but that album just feels too much like a Queen ripoff for me to really get into it.

It has some really good songs at the beginning, but after about 5 songs in it's completely unremarkable. Not the point of "man this f***ing sucks" like I get with Ram It Down or Point of Entry, and not to the point of "it's just not my vibe" like Rocka Rolla or Turbo. It's just kinda mediocre.

A bit of a misfire, but at least Firepower was the best album they did for anything after Defenders of the Faith, barring Painkiller.

I'm a fan of Redeemer of Souls as well. Though I may be bias for seeing them opening night that tour. The only song I really don't dig is March of the Damned. That one is just so generic to my ears. Though Firepower and Invincible Shield don't have any stinkers like that one.
