A friend recently clued me into this song, The Waterboys' The Whole of the Moon. Can't believe I'd never heard this. Understand U2 used it as the walkout song a couple years ago.

Catching up on these guys' catalog. I was aware of Mike Scott's career without ever delving into his music; what a mistake. Making up for it now. Wow is Fisherman's Blues fantastic.

This is the Sea is epic greatness. Essential. Also, Fiona Apple does a nice cover of "The Whole of the Moon".

I hope this was recorded in 1980 or it would be a seventies tune even though it was released on a 1980 album.

I hate to be pedantic*, but it's actually a tune they had written before they broke. So...

* ok...I live for pedantry.

I don't know what you're saying.

You're pedantic.

I'm stupid.

There's old boots of them playing that song during the club/backyard party years. The 70s!

If you haven't heard that stuff, you should check the youtube. Embedded in abandoned songs, you can hear bits and riffs from a lot of songs that later came to be...Mean Street, for example.

I'm sticking this video here because it has a great sound and I may not find it again on youtube.

This has good sound too:

Love both these. Saw them once maybe 15 years ago and really enjoyed them. They did both these of course.

That reminds me of this one that I don't know if anyone posted. It got the 80's off to a good start:

Reminds me of nights at some club in Hoboken whose name escapes me at the moment.

:7up:

EDIT; I just remembered the name of the club - Rosebuds. :)

Lol, I saw Lionel Richie in 1984 in Tacoma, WA. Tina Turner opened, and Bryan Adam's joined her for It's Only Love.

Let's Celebrate...

...the Weekend?

Hey The Weekend, the 80's called and asked for its everything back.

But I guess I kind of like it because I'm a slut for retro. :) But man is this Tubbs wannabe annoying.

It's currently #11 on Billboard's Hot 100.
