Blackfield - Blackfield II A melancholic, song focused album. Blackfield II cohesively weaves together interesting time signatures with a pop friendly melodicism. Several of the songs sound very much in the vein of Pink Floyd, while expressing a lot of heart in the process. One of Steven Wilson's best works, there's just not a bad song on this album. Daft Punk - Random Access Memories I can already hear the heads explode; but this album certainly forays into prog. Almost playing like a concept album, it is one of the most substantial, most complete albums I've ever heard. The layering of synth and bass throughout this album is incredible, and nothing about it is ever canned or boring.

Dominoe is prog, as is Tonight, Tonight, Tonight to an extent. Genesis never fully dropped their prog roots for a whole album. Also, Big Generator has some definite prog touches. New_World_Man
also who the f**k put big generator? As much as I like Yes(and even this album)even I'll admit it shouldn't be on a list of 100 or even 200 greatest prog rock albums. Still, it's more prog than 90125(which shouldn't be on here either). Why aren't they progressive? There are a few prog tracks on them especially big generator but there are so many other better albums and ones more representative of prog than these two. Why aren't they progressive? They’re progressive pop to me, like Asia but different. Also maybe I need a relisten, but I don’t get how Big Generator is proggier than 90125. There's nothing on 90125 like "final eyes" "i'm running" or "holy lamb" imo. There's some great moments but it's mostly a pop rock album without the depth of prog. Say what you want about BG but it has depth to the songs that I find lacking on 90125. All imo of course.

But I need to listen again because I’ve never really compared the two on progginess.

The idea that 90125 is a "pop" album holds water if by "pop" you mean literally, short for popular. Otherwise it's an accessible album by a progressive rock band.

It is definitely a rock album with major prog and new wave leanings.

My sense is that they sold too well for long time Yes fans, and that's why they're not "progressive."
