Thanks to everyone who's played along!

 

The votes are in, and we've narrowed down 90 songs to the top 13. The cut was 9 votes or more, which advanced five, four, and four songs respectively from the three groups. I set up the groups by taking the three highest, the next three highest, etc., eliminating same-band conflicts. Not surprisingly, the Mighty Zep is represented in all three groups. Is any one of them strong enough to take the title?

 

For the Champions Round, pick your top song in each group as the top Side B Opener. We'll pit the eventual winners against the Side A champions for the title of Greatest Album Side Opener.

Selfishly and you think I am, I would have gone with "Burning" on "Breaker" by ACCEPT.

 

But what do I know?

Nothing apparently. The only poll that song belongs in is, "songs by German rock bands that no one cares about". :)

Went with Sweet Emotion, And You and I, and Here Comes the Sun, but hard leaving out the Zeppelin tracks, esp Side 3 opener (?) In the Light (side B of a 2-disc CD set I suppose).

Sweet Emotion was tough to leave on the table.

It's got that great grooving intro, which is a perfect way to open a B side.

I think Sweet Emotion would've worked well as the A side opener too. That intro is too good.

Sorry Earl, but Back in Black is pretty much a signature tune, much as I love Hot for Teacher.

 

Oh Rick killing me. "Hot For Teacher" is getting smashed. Ugh! You know I think Brian Johnson is a sweetheart of a man yet I can't STAND him in AC/DC.
