They didn't much like Opeth either!

I won't go there

Well...I don’t either. That death growl/Cookie Monster shit ruins good music for me. It is the bit of poop on an ice cream cone...ruins the whole thing.

I see it more as a special effect, or a deeper part of the music compared to normal "clean" vocals. That's how I hear it anyway.

I'm not the biggest fan of the growling vocals but most bands that use it wouldn't sound right using a cleaner or melodic style. More often than not it fits best with the music and mood they're trying to convey.

Yeah if you tried to replace death vocals in a death metal song with clean vocals it probably wouldn't work. It would probably sound as bad as tying to put death vocals in a pop song instead of normal vocals.

I dislike it partly for the ethic behind death metal/death growl which I find abhorrent and partly because the death growl just sounds ugly and offputting...which I’m sure is part of the goal by the freaks that use it.

So I'm a freak too am I? :kisshug:

The closest I could ever get to enjoying that type of vocal style is Pantera. Maybe I'm just weird

The second I hear growling it's :outtahere:

...nextdoor's dog? :bitchslap:

Let's just say I'd rather hear Phil Simms call an NFL game than listen to that shit.

That is way too much of an exaggeration, good emphasis though. :hail:

These guys drive me nuts. They always cut it off just as you're getting into it. They talk too much.

Appreciate it for what it is. They're reacting. Part of the joy is watching them.

Do you dislike them because they thought Dream Theater couldn't write good songs? Just sayin'

I can have an opinion, just like you. We don’t have to agree.

I'm not sure I agree with that.

They’re back!!!

Perhaps the biggest compliment you can make: "There's eight people in this band...There's no way this is a three-man band"
