Amps211 Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 I really enjoy these guys .. the fresh perspective is somehow eyeopening to long time metal fans .. they hear things in these songs that helped us all become fans in the first place .. but now we have sort of forgotten about .. or just don't really focus on so much anymore when we listen .. great job guys!! 4

NewWorldScott Posted December 27, 2017 Posted December 27, 2017 This was fun to watch. I would love to see them do more Rush videos. They seem to enjoy the band. I would love to see them take on more of their work. 4
CrimsonE Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 These guys are great, as I have the chance to listen to music I've heard most of my life with a fresh set of ears. I'll be honest, I was never a huge fan of YYZ. I know it's a good song, but it never really did much for me compared to some of their other instrumentals, most notably La Villa Straingato. However, these guys' reaction made me give this song another chance, and I realized just how much of a groove the song has compared to other instrumentals. Plus, I appreciated their comments on how much the song would jam live (which it does), including how it would be a good show closer (which it has been on several tours). Plus, where else will you see Michael Jackson, Sir Mix-A-Lot and Rush mentioned in the same review? It's a good thing they did this song first, rather than LVS. Given their reaction to Dream Theater's Metropolis, I'm not sure Ryan and George would have appreciated LVS. Let's hope they do some more Rush, with TS and TSOR being the prime candidates, although latter stuff would also be pretty cool. I want to hear their reaction to Geddy's voice. 2
EagleMoon Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 These guys drive me nuts. They always cut it off just as you're getting into it. They talk too much. 1

I do like their thoughts on a lot of the metal and rock they listen to but the constant stopping of the songs to talk does annoy me. Especially here. It's an instrumental, just let it go and listen all the way through. Who listens to songs for the first time and pauses it every fifteen seconds? I would prefer to hear their comments while the song plays with a deeper analysis when it's done. Not sure if it was because it was Rush but the constant stopping really bothered me here. 1

I do think they should cut down on how much they do it. It happens often at great points in the music unfortunately. 2

I'm not the biggest fan of the growling vocals but most bands that use it wouldn't sound right using a cleaner or melodic style. More often than not it fits best with the music and mood they're trying to convey. 1

It would probably sound as bad as tying to put death vocals in a pop song instead of normal vocals. 1

I dislike it partly for the ethic behind death metal/death growl which I find abhorrent and partly because the death growl just sounds ugly and offputting...which I’m sure is part of the goal by the freaks that use it. 1
