custom55
Porcelain was on a EP in the early '80 but appeared on the remaster of their first album. What a great tune. http://youtu.be/t5tp7_gsod4 Edited August 29, 2017 by custom55
HemiBeers
I have 'the singles' greatest hits album which came out in 87. After that, what did they (she) really do? That opening line-up was hard to beat. It's hard to get excited about a group that peaked their first 6-7 years and just hung around for the next 30 years.A gal has to make pocket change somehow. :codger: Plus, she can still sing. ;)As good as the original material was, it's not good enough to hold up 30 years later without anything else that's new and interesting.Huh? Early material needs to be propped up or justified by newer material? Anyway, some would argue a musician making music for 30 years is admirable, despite a smaller appreciation and audience.yes you need new material...or you become ted nugent with his smaller appreciation and audience. custom55
I played this album a lot in '87. Wasn't a gritty as their early albums but I still was a follower of Chrissy's music. http://youtu.be/RXsfs6urAAs Edited August 29, 2017 by custom55

Good music is good music. Anyway, the Pretenders released an album last year and Chrissie Hynde released a solo album a few years ago. So there's that.
goose
I saw them way back in the early 90s, it was a great show! My fave track (I think)...lmk what you reckon...the classic line-up...wow she looks just like Amy here! :o Too bad Honeyman-Scott was lost to drugs - major talent. Sorry it gets chopped, precious TOTP footage! http://youtu.be/i3s_TUrqzhsHer voice is mesmerizing. Her use of vibrato...

The Cat 3
One of my fondest memories of Chrissie Hynde is when I saw Bob Dylan at Wembley in 1984. Mick Taylor was his guitarist for that tour. UB40 and Santana opened the show. Van Morrison, Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana and Chrissie Hynde joined the band for an amazing version of "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue". Van Morrison sang lead vocals and Chrissie and Bob shared a mic for backing vocals. Just a wonderful moment in rock and roll for me.

The Cat 3
"The Isle of View" is a great live album. It is in "Unplugged " style. Acoustic versions of most of the big hits. "2000 Miles" is just beautiful.
Steevo
I remember Last of the Independents (1994) having some great songs. Yeah tbh that wasn't a bad effort. If I remember they were getting lame there for a while and that shot them back up for me. At least half the album was really solid and quite a surprise. I don't think they ever matched it again disappointingly. Have to say I've drifted away from them a bit over the years.

Lorraine
I find the song My City Was Gone very sad. I'm sure those of you here who grew up in the 50s, 603 and 70s maybe can relate. Going back to your childhood neighborhood and finding it ravaged. It's a very sad experience. I went back to OhioBut my city was goneThere was no train stationThere was no downtownSouth Howard had disappearedAll my favorite placesMy city had been pulled downReduced to parking spaces Well I went back to OhioBut my family was goneI stood on the back porchThere was nobody homeI was stunned and amazedMy childhood memoriesSlowly swirled pastLike the wind through the trees I went back to OhioBut my pretty countrysideHad been paved down the middleBy a government that had no prideThe farms of OhioHad been replaced by shopping mallsAnd Muzak filled the airFrom Seneca to Cuyahoga falls Edited August 30, 2017 by Lorraine

It's declined in population ever since the 50s. It was crap when I left and it's a bigger pile of crap now. I avoid going there even though I have relatives. My only motivation is stopping at the awesome bakery for the best donuts in Michigan. As measure of it's decline, my relatives live in a older, but decent subdivision. There's the same cracks in the streets that I rode my bike over 30-35 years ago. Major opiate problems now since the only opportunity is dealing drugs and/or working at the prison.
