Kansas...easily one of the greatest bands I have ever heard.

Just...blew me away the second I gave them a deeper listen.

Kansas ripped off the riff from Journey.

Which Journey song? And I assume you mean the main riff? "Carry On" is wall-to-wall riffs.

Yes, the main riff. Give "I'm Gonna Leave You" a listen.

Hmmm...

Yep, there's enough similarity there to connect the two, for sure.

I just listened to Carry On Wayward Son. Is there a main riff? It's a riff filled orgasm.

Yeah, the whole song is riff-based, and they're all good ones. I would consider this the main riff:

Sure, why the hell not? It's a tremendously fun song.

Definitely not the main riff and the song would still be great without it. If we start getting our pitchforks up for this we have to go after rush too for la villa.

I am just pointing out the similarity. Intentional or not, I don't have a problem with Kansas using it in the song.

The riffs are similar enough to wonder if Kerry Livgren either subconsciously borrowed it or intentionally lifted it -- assuming he'd heard that Journey song to begin with.
