  1. R.I.P. He also did great work with Joe Satriani. I loved his work on 'The Extremist'...one of my favourites. Joe had posted the following blurb on his FB account: "Very hard to put into words how I feel about losing Andy Johns so suddenly. We spoke just a few weeks ago about working together on a few movie soundtracks that he had been commissioned to produce, he sounded upbeat, enthusiastic and as usual full of ideas. He brought real musical magic to "The Extremist" and "Chickenfoot" records, experiences I will always treasure. As an engineer and producer he changed the sound of rock music for all time. He was a musical giant who's presence will be missed, and I will miss him very, very much."

    RUSH on SNL

No thanks...I don't think they are a good pairing, and SNL is garbage.
  3. Amazing record!! :haz: Arguably one of my favourite albums...and this was for me, the first QR album I ever heard. It got me hooked on the band. A super strong album from start to finish Ironically, I found this thread after reading about this ridiculousness that we now have TWO bands under the name 'Queensryche'. It makes me want to laugh and cry at the same time. Tate is a joke, and I've come to that conclusion. I too am looking forward to the 'La Torre' version of the band. The best thing ever would be if they could also coax DeGarmo to rejoin them. *dream* Anyways, as far as Empire...I have to go with RESISTANCE. My absolute favourite on this record...it was the first song that immediately hooked me, and I simply never get tired of listening to it.
  4. Correct...not even in my top half of the album personally. It is a nice song...but I don't find myself wanting to listen to it all that much. Maybe I just prefer the heavier stuff personally...except for The Wreckers which gets heavily played and is to me, one of the best songs they've written.
  5. Thank you to everyone!! I will admit...I don't post enough. Not sure why. There was a stretch leading up to, and after the release of CA where I was posting tons, and was loving all my discussions with you great people! In October, we gave birth to our baby daughter (our first), and between her and work...I seemingly haven't had much time to post on here! I will try to get on here more...but I just want to say, 6 years have flown by, and I have loved every second of them here at TRF. One of the greatest sites on the web, and such amazing people here! I truly appreciate all of your kind words!
  6. One of my all-time favourites. I never, ever get sick of this song. Glad you mentioned his vocals as well...just a mind-blowing performance really...especially in that 'bridge' section. Love it!
  7. Hey Guys, I don't see this marked down. I did bump my old 'Rocksmith' game topic in the Gaming section, but since this is Rush news, I thought I'd bring it up here as well. They just (finally) released a RUSH package of songs for Rocksmith: Tom Sawyer Red Barchetta YYZ Limelight Subdivisions Headlong Flight Looking forward to downloading these and giving them a try. I highly doubt I'll ever fully figure out how to play them! LOL...but I look forward to the challenge. (FYI...for those who don't know what Rocksmith is, it's a video game like 'Rock Band', except that you actually play the songs for real (with real instruments...guitar and/or bass)).
  8. Nope...no TBE played at last night's show. I think they switched it up between both shows...which was the right move.
  9. QUOTE (lerxt1990 @ Oct 4 2012, 07:46 PM) Ill repeat my opinion. Sorta nice they got nominated, but we're competing with Donna Summer and Chic. Is that the line we want to get ahead in? I'd, perversely, love it if they passed, but they wont, because Rush are gentlemen, as Alex would say "Good Canadian Boys." Bingo.
  10. QUOTE (LeaveMyThingAlone @ Oct 4 2012, 02:47 PM) I've said this from day 1: Every year when Rush gets snubbed, all the Rushheads come out of the woodwork and say that "The RRHOF doesn't deserve Rush" and "I hope they never get in" and "It's better that they are not in", etc etc I've always maintained that when and if the day comes that they do get it it will be one of the coolest things ever and all those same Rush heads will agree. I disagree...I don't see it as a good thing at all. Not necessary at this point IMO.
  11. I truly hope they don't make it...or better yet, don't accept it.
  12. They are great songs...but nope. Halo Effect, and to a lesser degree Carnies take it out of the running for me. The rest of the tracks are all ACES though.
  13. QUOTE (metaldad @ Aug 1 2012, 03:51 PM) QUOTE (Lost In Xanadu @ Jul 31 2012, 08:57 AM) I found the best way to make BU2B2 sound better is by hitting skip.
  14. "Susan Tate brought to the table the idea to record 'Operation: Mindcrime II'. The band was hesitant and did not want to lessen the original. But Susan Tate and Geoff Tate hired a budget producer and took control without really any other input. The manipulation of upfront monies was the Tates' main tool to get what they wanted. Scott Rockenfield, Eddie Jackson and I were squeezed out of having any input in the musical direction or business decisions, thus the project suffered." I f'n knew it. The exact same stance that I had all along...why would they truly want to mess with the original and make a half-assed sequel?! Geoff stated that he had "always planned to make the sequel". Yeah, 16 years later right Geoff?! Such bullshit...it was nothing more than a money-making (or so he had hoped) scheme to try and revive a band that was floundering, especially with their older fan-base. I'm so glad it bombed...because it never should've seen the light of day to begin with. It's no surprise that the others didn't want it to exist. In fact, this really puts my faith back in the remaining members. They were smart enough to know that this never should have been made. I'm also in a way happy to hear that Chris DeGarmo basically left because he couldn't work with Geoff. Maybe there is still hope of Chris making an appearance again in the future. I am hopeful...
  15. Take an antacid. Nothing helps soothe the aches of watching those pesky Saints play terribly for 16 weeks...
  16. Congrats Dude!! As a present to you, the BUCS will finish ahead of the Saints this year. Book it! Seriously though...one of the best posters here! Also, the main guy responsible for me becoming such a huge Buckethead fan! But seriously though...the BUCS rule!!
  17. QUOTE (Show Don't Tell @ Jul 2 2012, 08:57 PM) My God. I saw Roger's performance in Toronto two weeks ago. Perfection. I was there...and I agree.
  18. BU2B...easily. Followed by The Anarchist. That solo is absolute METAL.
