My aunt passed away today. I am so sad. :(

Interesting because I grew up on Journey and Boston...the Eagles I didn't appreciate as much until later. Rush did take some time to grow on me but I think that's largely due to the fact that I didn't really dig deep into their music a lot sooner.

Rush R40 LA Forum Poster - Signed Artist Proof Backstage
Xanadu replied to robertrobyn's topic in Rush
Did you just take yours to Michael's or did you have someone else frame it? There are two other frame shops here in town but I know they charge more than Michael's will . . . just not positive how it will turn out there. Michael's does a really great job with framing. I always wait until they have a coupon (for 50-70% off!) so that the price is not outrageous. Thanks for the info because I was wondering about Michael's. I was just thinking about buying the frame from there and doing it myself. -
My vote too, although I admire the way they figured out how to keep fattening their wallets thanks to the mindless sheep of the world. Wish I could do the same.

I am going by music actually, not lyrics....otherwise I would have gone in the other direction. Although I'd rather just run in the other direction. :P

Best note: I was conceived while my dad was at a Rush concert! Hahaha!!! The "I like the drummer" one cracks me up.

Happy New Year! Who else is staying home tonight? :)

Sometimes it really depends a lot on when you are introduced to them. I knew people that never heard of them until Moving Pictures, and then were turned off by how "overplayed" Tom Sawyer and Limelight were at the time and as a result they still harbor negativity towards the band. First impressions do matter but generally if you are more sensible you will not write a band off entirely over something like that.

Well first you have to get him to consent to an interview. ;)

I would echo the same sentiments and add that of all the stories I have heard of people meeting him, he really seemed to be good to the fans and you always have to admire that. RIP, Lemmy.

I am upset that my sister got a court summons after being in a car accident. This woman is claiming all this pain and suffering, etc, and asking a ridiculous amount in damages. She was not injured after the accident, in fact her car was still driveable (unlike my sister's) and she chose to get a new car (which she expects my sister to pay for). And my sister is very poor herself and driving an old car with over 100,000 miles on it. Some people are just such pitiful assholes.

Ugh...not something anyone wants to hear. My mom was first told back in 2007 and was devastated but I will say, some 8 years later she is doing very well. I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis but like my mom, I know you can still live a fulfilled life.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Who here actually saw Star Wars Episode IV in 1977?
Xanadu replied to Maverick's topic in Video Vertigo
I never saw the original movie in 1977 but then was taken to the theater in 1980(?) to see The Empire Strikes back. I was thoroughly confused. -
Right up there with No Quarter as my favorite Always loved No Quarter myself.

JoAnn, is that you? You don't look a day over 70, am I right?

I know cover bands are not the real deal, just like I know Taco Bell isn't authentic Mexican food (and find it hilarious that people always feel the need to point that out........noooooooo......really? ) But, I like to see live music, so unless Geddy, Alex, and Neil (among others) want to hang around my neck of the woods on a regular basis, I don't think I have a boatload of options. And as mentioned, not everyone is talented enough to write their own music, so you have cover bands. It always ends up being a good time though which is what it's all about at the end of the day. Don't be a stick in the mud.

Sadder still to watch it die than never to have known it. :sigh:

I agree but I'm sure as I type this, someone is about to post another thread about the Neil Peart situation. Maybe not if we get down on our knees and pray. Real hard. They'd go away if everyone would ignore them and stop commenting on them rather than turning them into 40-page threads.
