  1. QUOTE (Jaminbenb @ Oct 15 2012, 10:22 AM) No offense, but who really listens to regular radio anymore If I want my Rush (or anyone else for that matter) I just pull out the CD or my iPod and go from there....I got tired of "rock radio" years back when my local station refused to play certain songs because they weren't considered "classic rock" in a few of the DJ's eyes..... Anyway....Sirius and XM put local stations to shame! I still listen, though really only because my car doesn't have a CD or Ipod dock. Old cassette player in that thing. At least I have Presto for that...Anyways, I do still listen to radio.
  2. QUOTE (Tommy Sawyer @ Oct 5 2012, 02:55 PM) QUOTE (waluigithewalrus @ Oct 3 2012, 11:23 PM) I'm going down to see The Moody Blues in Baltimore sometime in December, I can't remember the date right now. Should be a fun show. Lucky! Moody Blues aren't coming anywhere near Ohio How close do you live to Akron? Apparently, they're going to be there on December 3 this year. http://www.moodybluestoday.com/index.cfm/p...tent/pid/401891
  3. QUOTE (briremo @ Oct 16 2012, 02:06 PM) Yesterday my son wore his TMT shirt (moving pictures version with Starman) to school (Freshman/HS). One of his teachers came up to him and told him he shouldn't be glorifying Satan. I just left the school where I met with the teacher and A) told him he had no business scaring the crap out of my son and I explained what the starman is all about so maybe next time he won't look so ignorant to the students. Sounds like the youth pastor at my church. I have a shirt with various famous drums sets on the back, one of which being one of Neil's. It happened to have the starman logo on it, so my youth pastor immediately thought they were satanic. I've tried to explain it to him, even referencing other album covers (namely signals) to prove they aren't. he won't hear a word of it.
  4. How I wish they played it. The rock stations out here haven't played anything off the new album since 'Caravan' came out a few years ago. And even then, it was more of a one off thing.
  5. I will choose a path that's clear, I will choose freewill
  6. Has he done something different to it, because from what I remember, he's had hair. Short hair, but it's there.

  8. QUOTE (ReGorLaTroy @ Oct 11 2012, 09:21 AM) QUOTE (mmm_donuts @ Oct 11 2012, 07:05 AM) Rush is auctioning a signed (by all 3) gold top Les Paul for charity. A couple of issues here: 1. Coming up with the coin to win this 2. Do you play this or save this to keep the signatures intact http://kidney.akaraisin.com/gala/Event/Pho...eid=5422&mid=41 Sweet, sweet axe...it would be difficult not to play this A LOT. You play it... ...it would be a shame for such an amazing instrument to go unplayed. Of course, you could always donate it to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for generations to admire and appreciate when Rush is finally inducted. With the way the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is, I'd say it's more of an if than a when. Now to the topic; I'd probably play it...as soon as I picked up guitar. Even with their signatures on it, it's too amazing of an instrument to not ever play. Now I'd like to see a bass signed by all of them. I would love that thing to death.
  9. QUOTE (Mr. IsNot @ Oct 6 2012, 07:22 PM) Hi, my name is... not Shirly. Don't call me Shirly.
  10. Are Black Forest and Farewell to Frankfurt the same show? If so, which is the better of the two. I already have FtF, but I'm only now hearing of Black Forest.
  11. QUOTE (hcm @ Oct 5 2012, 05:53 PM) This one and Wreckers were the first songs to really hit me. Bass on seven cities and vocals and lyrics on Wreckers. Of course The Garden is beautiful but didn't grab me just made me cry.....ah us Rush girls are such sensitive girls I don't think he was talking about that type of effect. Anyways, I'm glad I saw this thread, or I would have never noticed the Hammond. Now I'm going to pick it up every time I listen to it. As for the Star Trek Red Alarm sound...I hear a guitar effect, but no alarm sound.
  12. Now I feel like I don't have a ton of Rush gear... Anyways: CD: Fly By Night, 2112, Moving Pictures, Exit...Stage Left, Clockwork Angels, The Spirit of Radio; Rush's Greatest Hits: Cassette: Presto Vinyl: Rush, Caress Of Steel, 2112, All The Worlds A Stage, Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, Exit...Stage Left, Signals, Grace Under Pressure Itunes download: Snakes And Arrows Bootlegs count too? Then; A Farewell to Frankfurt, A Desert Passage, St Louis '80, Bottle of Booze, Birmingham '88, Vital Dreams (a.k.a. Charlotte Fever), Mirrors, Bigger and Better in Texas 1996, A Comedy of Errors DVD: Time Machine
  13. QUOTE (ouchithurts @ Oct 7 2012, 10:30 PM) Geddy leaves Rush in 2015, goes to rabbinical school and becomes a Rabbi on the Lower East Side. He also buys a deli and serves the best corned beef sandwiches this side of the Mississippi. Neil, having seen Geddy finally living his dream, rebuffs the last of the sexual advances from Mosbach and takes over from a drugged deranged Drew Carey and becomes the new host of The Price is Right. Alex, all alone now, seeing the growth in Cougar and MILF genre adult video becomes a serviceable and well paid porno actor in such movies. Alex becomes quite the rage at local senior centers in which the ladies there, having come of age in the women's lib movement, have tea parties in which they love to watch him perform on aforementioned Cougars and MILF's. Alex, taking advantage of this popularity tours North America's senior centers, assisted living communities, and nursing homes, perform at CFNM parties. Da fuq did I just read?

Nice try. Now back on topic, I have to say the remasters are pretty good and do help the sound out. Especially with Exit...Stage Left. On my vinyl copy of that album, it is fairly muddy, while the CD remaster sounds excellent. Huh? Eh...oops . Sorry about that one. I'm just used to people posting kind of off topic things kinda being trolls from another forum I go to. I just made the comment because of the name of the OP. I find it ironic because there has been obvious tension between DLR and Rush. I figured the OP is a fan of both, but I didn't know if he knew about the history between the two. I've tried to answer his core question as best I could. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH. Now I see! Again sorry about that. Now, erm...bye

  19. I noticed this earlier but didn't really think much of it at first. I'm just glad that my team is the '12' part of it

  22. QUOTE (lerxt1990 @ Oct 4 2012, 10:14 PM) Am I the only one that finds it hilarious that we are analyzing entry of RUSH into a hall of fame that includes the likes of Madonna, Run DMC, REM and Blondie (no offense)? Hey, REM before Losing My Religion was pretty good. Afterwards it got bad, but before they were great. As for the other bands on the list of yours, I agree with you 100%
  23. 'bout time Rush got nominated. I've been waiting a while for this. Looking at the other nominees, I have to wonder why the f*ck that The Paul Butterfield Blues Band is on that list. Sure, they're an ok band, but there is no way they're deserving of a rock and roll hall of fame entry.
