  1. Terrible terrible news... another talented artist gone far too early... RIP Andrew.
  2. Watching the DVD over last time, i really enjoyed this version of Time Stand Still.. i don't know what it was. sure, the voice wasn't exactly the same as on record, but the mixing and the sound of the instruments were fantastic. and i know i said Geddy's voice was a little "iffy" in some places, but in others i preferred it to the original. call me weird, but i liked the DVD version.
  3. Being from Canada, i'd just watch it on tv... i'd be full-on nerded-out of course.
  4. I meant the numbers on the disc itself are incorrect; http://s18.postimage.org/78648zzyx/photo_5.jpg and i was just curious to see if there were any other errors that you guys may have encountered while looking over your boxsets? i just stumbled upon these while looking at them on Christmas and thought i'd share.
  5. just noticed these errors, and i don't know if this had been brought up before? on the Hemispheres disc in sector 2, there is a labeling error. it goes as: 1. Cygnus Book II: Hemispheres (and then the different movements) 3. Circumstances 4. The Trees 5. La Villa Strangiato the number 2 was skipped. also, in the vinyl replica gatefold of Signals, on the inside with the lyrics,it is missing the title for "Countdown". are there any other errors that someone else has noticed? besides the sound issues, obviously.

    xanadu

If they bring it back once again, they've got to play it on the double-necks. that'd be damn awesome.

    Presto

I didn't really know this song before i went to see them, and unfortunately where i was sitting at the Vancouver show didn't help. (directly opposite of the stage) however, after watching the DVD several times, and re-listening to the album, absolutely love it know. its one of my favourites.

    ABC 1974

I'd love it if anyone who has this CD could send me a download link? i've only heard great quality versions of Fancy Dancer and Garden Road from the documentary.
  9. 2nd of January 2012 : 2/1/12 January 21, 2012: 1/21/12 February 1st, 2012: 2/1/12 February 21st, 2012: 2/21/12 ... Etc. for every month, then the anual celebration of the 21st of December: 21/12 i think this is pretty awesome, and it will only happen this year that there will be 15 "21/12" days. just 15 more excuses to listen to rush. also, anyone thinking that there could be a "special announcement" coming on Feb 2? if you know what i mean.
  10. Just a wild guess, but since the theme of Clockwork Angels is going to be "steampunk/ future rooted in the past", perhaps they will play songs that are futuristic/apocalyptic in nature. here's my short and, in my opinion, realistic wishlist: 2112 (full) Red Sector A Dreamline Between the Wheels Jacobs Ladder Cygnus X-1 Xanadu (more fantasy themed, but would be a nice surprise!) however, there are other songs that i would like to see as well. The Big Money (possible opener) MalNar /Drum solo Resist (half acoustic, then electric after the bridge) Presto (i've come to love this one) Ghost of a Chance One Little Victory (another possible opener, also (IMO) could fit in with the futuristic side) any of these would be awesome, and anything else would be just as awesome. doesn't matter to me really, im gonna see them regardless of what they play.
  11. i got Sectors 2 and 3 for Christmas, and i think they're fantastic. of course they're loud (all music is nowadays) but the important thing is that they aren't brick-walled to shit like Vapour Trails or Metallica. i do not own very high quality speakers, but i did notice a clarity improvement on AFTK, Hemispheres and Permanent Waves. i listened to the DVDs on my family's old 5.1 system that is 10 years old and has only rear speaker (thus making it a 4.1 system hardeeharhar). the 5.1 version of AFTK is awesome, and i have no issues with the disc... i think. to be honest, i never really listen to Xanadu before this, but i really really enjoyed it. When i played the Signals 5.1, i instantly noticed more guitar upfront in Subdivisions, and odd vocals. it seems like its a different take of the vocals at certain points, but im not sure as i'd have to do a side by side comparison. on Hold your Fire, the drums before the second verse of Time Stand Still kinda annoys me but thats bugger-all. i'm gonna do a complete re-listen to all discs once i get Sector 1 and go back to school and listen on the MNK 5.1 system in the studio.
  12. Damn, thats a nice studio.
  13. CDs can only hold 80 minutes of audio. it's whats called "red book standard". the RBS also dictates that CD quality audio is a sample rate of 44.1khz and a bit depth of 16 bit.
  14. i see why you guys aren't interested in these, but for a younger fan like me, im definitely asking for them for christmas. the only Rush CDs i have are 2112, permanent waves, moving pictures, Gold, retrospective 3 and snakes and arrows. with 3 5.1 DVDs included, it's a no-brainer for me.
  15. Golden Earring "Radar Love" Gaslight Anthem "Red in the Morning" as well as Red Barchetta, Highway Star, and One Little Victory- i quite enjoy driving to that one too.

    Rush fans are we

I also think Rush fans are unique in the way that we are annoying. I've noticed that i talk too much about how awesome Rush is to my friends and family that it actually starts to annoy myself. we're kinda like the jehovah's witnesses of rock music, we're always trying to get other people to convert and to love Rush. i remember reading something somewhere that said that, and it's true! because, honestly, is freaking awesome.
  18. kinda sad that the winner didn't bid $ 12,112
  19. talking about this Tom Sawyer remix reminds me of this: i worked a Kid Rock concert a few month ago and he integrated Tom Sawyer into his song "Forever". i thought it was kinda cool, albeit the drum pattern is very much dumbed down (i like to use the term "bastardized").
  20. QUOTE (PolarizeMe @ Aug 4 2011, 09:23 PM) There's also a Vault Edition of The Trees which was featured on Rock Band 2 It wasn't released on iTunes, but I remembered that I couldn't recall any difference with that and the original...I think it may be an ambient live version like the Hemispheres music videos.... i think all that is different in the rock band "vault edition" is that the outro is a bit longer with more nature sounds and a guitar line playing for a bit longer. also, Geddys vocal is slightly different.
  21. Was just going through my Rush catalog wanting to make a Rush playlist for a CD and found 16 songs that total to 1:21:12 They are: BU2B, Spirit of Radio, LVS, Red Barchetta, Circumstances, Lock and Key, Vital Signs, Entre Nous, Resist [Live R30], One Little Victory (remix), The Pass, Roll the Bones, Far Cry, Ghost of a Chance, In the Mood, Passage to Bangkok. also, guess which song just came on... thats right! 2112! not that i can burn a CD with a length of 1:21:12, but it was still a "Ahah!" moment.
  22.
