I'm not sure how the original poster intended it, but I think it's turning out as a pointless mishmash of unpopular opinions meant seriously, sarcastic or hyperbolic opinions meant as humour or provocation, and opinions that may or may not actually be opinions3 points

I have done this on some occasions - totally hit the wrong area and bam! I'm in someone's profile..! :o I'm awfully sorry - it's not intentional. I wouldn't worry about that. Anyone should feel honoured by a profile view from Janie or Bbyatca :) :hi:3 points

My favourite non-Rush album. I used to listen to it so much as a teenager. I used to play it out loud in the house and my mum used to look at me and say, "I know how you feel son, but it runs in the family."3 points

Maybe I should explain. The guy on the bottom is a famous historical figure. He is represented in the picture on the top as the guy on the right explaining his position on certain matters. The song title I'm thinking of is from that picture on the top, but I added the second picture so people would know the person to whom I am referring. it kinda looks like martin luther...but the 16th century guy uhh...what album?2 points

Yup. She sees the album cover on the phone/iPod and just associates the song with rabbits. After the song played that morning, a Led Zeppelin song came on and she said "no love, no love...I want rabbits". So we listened to Presto again. Thats how I knew it. Max grabs my phone and starts clicking, and grunting shaking his head until he sees Moving Pictures album cover or The Owl, then he gets excited, and keeps clicking till he finds his song2 points

:eyeroll: Let's not go crazy. Yeah, instrumentally, Alex and Geddy still rule, but, to my ears, this drummer really owns Neil on this song, at least, anymore. You made me watch it again just to see what I missed the first time. I didn't miss anything. Happy trolling this thread.2 points

I know exactly what you mean. I haven't listened to it in a couple of days because it emotionally drains on me, and I have been too tired for that. I think you have to be in the right mental place to really take this album in. It reminds me a lot of my teenage years. It was a big part of the soundtrack of my life back then. It takes you on such an emotional journey. From confusion to fear to anger to resignation and acceptance. Your post made my eyes fill with tears because you have articulated what I couldn't. Except for me, it was age 19 soon to be 20. Not sure if I have reached acceptance so much as resignation. As the old saying goes: No use crying over spilled milk. Very much like the stages of grief but over a lifetime. I guess we all have to accept what life has dealt us. I never thought of it from that perspective, but to describe the cycle of emotions that one goes through listening to Quadrophenia as being akin to the stages of grieving is incredibly apt. It never made me feel emotionally drained in a negative way, though. I'd describe the feeling it gave me when I was young as being more like cleansed. As that last chord of "Love Reign O'er Me" faded away, I felt clean, and fortified to carry on. So much comfort I took from those magical black circles when I was 14 or so and would listen lying on my bed with my eyes closed, those big old Koss headphones anchoring my head to the pillow, feeling like I was held in the comforting arms of some ancient wisdom that truly understood the pain in my soul and wanted me to know that I could survive it. Nowadays when I listen, I feel the continuity from the determined spirit I didn't know I had then, to the mental discipline I rely on now. Thirty-five years later, Quadrophenia still nurtures my emotional strength.2 points

Awesome game last night. Great seats. 6 round shootout with one of the Ducks shootout goals reviewed. Like everone there I thought it went into net but after 5 minute review "no goal". Great game my Habs beating the number one team. Sold out arena last night at least 3,000 Habs fans. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j199/bauhaus92/photo14_zps92f75099.jpg only bad thing about these seats is I had to look at this all night long. Kept distracting me from the game.. :P http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j199/bauhaus92/photo15_zps0b9c7da6.jpg2 points

Wow, very well put EagleMoon This is exactly why it is so difficult to talk about the impact of this album for me, as it has meant different things to me at different times. I just watched the movie "Quadrophrenia" last night and it brought up a whole other side of the story.2 points

Some great posts and observations everyone. There is so much on this album and can be interpreted and related to on so many different levels. I believe that there is so much emotion on this record. The hesitation to respond to the OP is because it is such an overwhelming proposition. In order to properly (and honestly) give one's thoughts on the impact of this album challenges the very areas where we are most vulnerable. The very reason(s) that we can so relate to the message are the very same aspects of our lives that we keep well hidden from the world. I am in the process of listening to Quadrophenia and will do my best to put my thoughts in some kind of logical order over the next few days.2 points

Recovering in my own bed. Sleeping and waking for a while and then sleeping some more. Still feel pretty beat up but the caring and kind words from you and others here certainly helps immensely. It is humbling really.... Glad to hear things went well. Being in your own bed will make a huge difference. Take care of yourself and keep us updated. Thanks to you and all for just giving a sh*t. Like I said, it means a lot.... :cheers:2 points

I can't even fathom what a :rush: it must be to do what you do...... Kudos brother :cheers:2 points

Hemispheres title track is really boring compared to the rest of the bands epics... 2112 has a flawless second side... I think Power Windows has grown on me so much I might just prefer it to all the bands seventies releases, bar AFTK... Test For Echo is excellent... Toto released music almost as great as Rush jn the eighties, better than Rush in the nineties... So who wants to slap me silly first?2 points

I thought I saw Hemispheres mentioned a lot in this thread so I was bored and decided to tally up the albums people chose. I tallied only the studio albums from people who chose one fave: Hemispheres: 7 AFTK: 5 Permanent Waves: 4 2112: 3 Clockwork Angels: 2 Power Windows: 2 Caress of Steel: 1 Moving Pictures: 1 Test for Echo: 1 I thought this was interesting because the top four albums were recorded in the 70s, and Moving Pictures, which is supposed to be one of their most popular albums, only got one vote.1 point

Today he confirmed he will be playing. He hasn't hit a drive since Sunday. He walked the course this afternoon chipping and putting. He hasn't hit a good drive since Saturday..... :D1 point

My favorite part was when she said she was going to eat their face off. Clearly, this woman was under the influence of something. But, it doesn't make it any less funny :P Eating faces is a zombie trait. Bath salt zombies, Mother Truckers :has:1 point

Wait a minute, Tufnel? Who else could do this???? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBiJ-K0IpDA Take for example, at 0:46, when he not only takes Page's playing with a violin bow to the next level by playing with a violin, but then has the presence of mind when the sound seems a bit off, to tune the violin. Improvisation that takes the greatness of the sound to a higher level! Tufnel is a guitar god!1 point
