Just over 600 songs...and each and every one of them enjoyable. http://assets.rollingstone.com/assets/images/list_item/johnny-ramone-20101202/johnny-ramone.jpg Rick N Backer said they are, "up there with The Beatles when it comes to influencing other bands". ReRushed pointed out that, "And they had the same secret weapon as the Beatles. A secret weapon that is so obvious and out in the open, that most people don't realize what it is. It's the ability to write great MELODIES." So true on both points. Their music has been a part of my life ever since I was 15 way back in 1978 and ReRushed point goes a long way into explaining why. Music by misfits and music for misfits...that was me then and that is me now. I swear I could start this marathon back over from the beginning and never grow tired of the music. http://cdn1.indie88cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/tommy-ramone_1190-400x200.jpg Rest in Peace and thank you, Dee Dee Joey Johnny Tommy Cheers to... Greedy Oak
I just finished up a Ramones marathon last week. Half way through, I forgot I was missing Animal Boy from my collection. Drove down to my local used store and lo and behold they had a copy. I love it all!
blueschica
My husband and I had three kids in middle/high school at the same time. They loved the Ramones so they took it well when they got aggravating and we would put on "Beat on the Brat" at full blast- it was very therapeutic!! They seem to have survived OK. :P

x1yyz
The first time I saw The Ramones (in an SF nightclub in the 80s) it was both my first punk show and my introduction to moshing. I was up in front of the stage and didn't understand why everyone was pushing. Silly people! ;)

The Cat 3
Listened to their first four studio albums and their first live album today. How amazing are those first four albums, indeed. Picking up where I left off tomorrow!

Syrinx
I absolutely love the Ramones. Saw them several times live. I will NEVER forget the night back in the 70's, I was sitting at home on the couch and watching Don Kirshner's rock concert I think, and on came this band playing simple 3 chord killer rock and roll - this in the midst of an era with a lot of crappy music - it blew me away! Love at first hear. They came along and kicked the music industry in the ass. Those who are too young probably cannot fathom the influence that bands like the Ramones and The Clash had. It is funny, but of all of the rock deaths in the last number of years, Joey's affected me the most for some reason.

The Cat 3
How cool is this... I made it through the entire Ramones catalog in exactly one week. http://topline.szm.com/Ramones/discography_montage_w_dvd%5B1%5D.jpg ...I'm not ready for the Ramones fun to come to an end, so it is Ramones bootleg time!
The Cat 3
The marathon clocked in at 23 hours, 39 minutes & 43 seconds. (My wife said I should stay up for 24 hours and listen to all them non stop). http://altrock.su/uploads/posts/2011-10/1319664618_ramones.jpg
The Cat 3
I wonder what it is? I mean, I honestly can't put my finger on it. There is something about the music of the Ramones that really speaks to me. Perhaps part of it is the whole "music by misfits made for misfits" thing. It goes beyond that for me. For nearly 40 years their music has lifted me up when I'm feeling down. It is pure punk, not angry but rather hopeful and life affirming. Their music is timeless really. A great tip of the hat to the music that came before them while still remaining fiercely original. After all these years their music is still fresh and relevant. And after all these years it still speaks to me on an almost spiritual level. What a strange prayer, indeed, it is to thank God for the Ramones and how their music has ministered to my life. Joey Ramone once said... "The Ramones own the fountain of youth. Experiencing us is like having the fountain of youth." There is something to that... ...when I listen to their music I get the feeling that it is ok to be myself and not care what the world around me thinks...I can do what I want, I'm free to be myself and, as a matter of fact, that is just fine. It is much like their song says... "I have the strength to endure - And all the love so pure - I have the strength to endure." Lucas
I love the Ramones They capture something very special, and while they were just about the coolest 4 guys in the world, they were also outcast, pop music, cartoon characters ( Sound familiar ? ) They were punk ( sincere ) enough to love The Bay City Rollers, and admit to it They were rebels, but embraced everything wonderful about pop culture http://www.teamrock.com/features/2014-07-14/story-behind-the-song-blitzkrieg-bop-by-the-ramones Edited February 29, 2016 by Lucas
