I don't like it that much.  I like most of the songs on CP more than Animate.  I was kind of disappointed at the show when they played it.

On the other hand, it is pretty entertaining to watch you guys go at it.

I aim to please trink39.gif

Animate is ok, and is definitely the best offering on what is for me their worst ever album.

Although a litle cheesy, the lyrics actually explain Jungs approach to the masculine side of ebveryones personality (animus) and the feminine (anima) quite well....

The title itself is obviously a play on words...Anima(te)

I don't like it.

The lyrics are a bunch of intellectual-sounding, multisyllabic words thrown into a vaguely mythological soup by the Professor, nothing truly profound or hard-hitting at all. If I want heavy, there's better progressive metal out there. I do like the added voice layers on the chorus and the winding bass line, but as Rush songs go, this is definitely in the lesser 25% of them.

Read some Carl Jung, and you will find the lyrics do actually make sense....in fact they are quite well thought out

"Everyday Glory" is the best off of that album, IMO. Which, I concur, is the worst Rush album ever.

Gay lyrics and doesn't  sound good, not nearly the best song on CPs.

I don't know if i'd call them gay, but weak for sure.

Let me try...

escalate me

concentrate me

renovate me

predicate me

caffeinate me

overrate me

understate me

delegate me

foliate me

excavate me

Look! I wrote a song in 30 seconds! wtf.gif

HAHAHAHA

"caffeinate me"

^^^That one got me!

Goddess in my garden
Sister in my soul
Angel in my armor
Actress in my role

Daughter of a demon lover
Empress of the hidden face
Priestess of the pagan mother
Ancient queen of inner space

Spirit in my psyche
Double in my role
Alter in my image
Struggle for control

Mistress of the dark unconscious
Mermaid of the lunar sea
Daughter of the great enchantress
Sister to the boy inside of me

My counterpart, my foolish heart
A man must learn to rule his tender part
A warming trend, a gentle friend
A man must build a fortress to defend
A secret face, a touch of grace
A man must learn to give a little space
A peaceful state, a submissive trait
A man must learn to gently dominate

Pretty gay, right there.

Yeah, Neil Peart.

"BUT HE'S NOOOOOBODY'S HEEEEEE-EEROOOOO..."

I'll leave you two alone....clearly this is an inside joke bolt.gif

Don't me break out some of Neil older pictures.

Someone who doesn't like Speed of Love, is probably missing the point. Which is odd since it' basically saying he same thing as Cold Fire...cole fire..

I actually agree. I just can't get past the over-rhymed chorus. It's like the bridge in Dog Years with the tortoise line, or the excessive rhyming in Neurotica. They greatly weaken a decent song, in my humble opinion.

P.S. As for rock & Jung, Synchronicity did it pretty well back in '83.

I love Animate. It sets the pace for the rest of the album. Upbeat and positive.

I loved Counter Parts the first time I bought it. I haven't heard it in a while and now it's been in my car for 2 weeks. I fell in love with it all over again. 2.gif
