"After taking three of four from the Astros over the weekend, Oakland secured a three-game sweep of New York and moved into a tie with the Rays atop the American League Wild Card standings."

No f***ing reason not to have robot umps. f***ing incompetence in spades.

Devil Hernandez and Joe West are to umpiring what Justin Bieber is to music.

When you make an out, and you cross the pitcher’s mound on the way to your dugout, you’re being a punk.

If you deny that you’re being a punk, then you’re a lying punk.

Angels pitcher Tyler Skaggs dies at age 27; Monday's game against Rangers canceled

The Los Angeles Angels have announced that left-handed pitcher Tyler Skaggs was found dead Monday morning in Texas. No further details about the cause of death are available at this time.

:o

The coroner determined that he died of an accidental overdose of Oxycodone, Fentanyl, and alcohol. He must have been hiding something that being well paid allowed him to continue without the typical route of stealing laptops to support.

Releasing painkillers with up to twice the potency of morphine on the public in criminal, imo. This is yet another sad related story.

Brewers 3

Cubs 2

When you really, really need a clutch hit, like in the bottom of the 9th with 2 out, who you gonna call?

Cutting the Cubs' lead to just 3 games!

....now down to 2! The Brewers took it to Jon Lester, and another strong effort by Josh Hader snuffed out the Cubs' hopes!

Astros put the hurt on the A's...15-0. This just a game after crushing the Mariners 21-0. The Astros scored eleven runs in the first two innings against Oakland.

The 36 runs Houston totaled in the two beatings on Sunday and Monday were the most in consecutive games in club history. The Astros are one of four teams since 1900 to outscore opponents by 35 or more runs in a two-game span.

Yordan Alvarez’s first-inning home run [he had two in the game] gave him sole possession of the Astros’ single-season rookie record, surpassing the 22 Carlos Correa hit in 2015. Alvarez’s second-inning shot, upping his total to 24, landed in the third deck of the right-field seats, a mammoth solo blast that traveled where few baseballs have. Statcast measured it at 416 feet. No Astro had ever hit a home run to that deck in a game.

Christian Yelich out with a fractured kneecap. :(

Awww, man. Hate to see such a great player go down. :(

The thrill of victory (they won the game), and the agony of defeat (they lost their best player).

Such is life in pro sports. On any given day....

Good News: Yelich will not need surgery. He should be good to go next year. :haz: :haz:

Watching the replay of that play, it just looks like such a fluke! For the ball to come off the bat just so, and then hit his kneecap just so -- the odds of that have to be astronomical. Bummer for fans of good players, in whatever shirt they've got on.
