One year later...

So, today is one year since the last Rush concert. How does everyone feel? What does everyone think is gonna happen next, if anything at all? Let's just reflect on the greatest band of all.

The greatest band of all? Okay... I think the White Album was cool.

Seriously though, I still hate that I was unable to attend any shows on R40. But I have the DVD. That at least I am thankful for. Hope they put out one more album before calling it totally quits. I am not hopeful for any type of live shows.

That year went really quick. I'll always be slightly bummed I didn't see the R40 tour, but the DVD is still very fresh to me and quite enjoyable.

I just hope that by 8-1-17 something will be in the works new album/project wise.

Going to a Rush concert always made me feel better about myself. Being with fans who all have RUSH in common was the best and i miss that.

It's sad to not be able to look forward to a tour or an album or something at least from them. I absolutely appreciate everything that we got from them. They have meant a lot to me in my life. For one thing I wouldn't have met any of you crazy people. ;)

I'm still angry at myself for not finding away to LA for the final show. Yet deep down inside I don't believe we have seen the last of :rush:. Oh it will never be as before but I believe we'll get one more shot at new music and a concert...not a major tour but something. All the signs say Im wrong. I choose to be glass half full.

Yea, without this place, what would we do with all that spare internet surfing time? Watch cat videos? :pussy:

Same here. But I did go to the Portland concert. It seems like yesterday that my first Rush concert was 1977. :codger:

I felt the R40 was the end before the 1st show. I look at people who are in their 60's and most of them work as little as possible.

Ged, Al and Neil have been beaten down by the road, and time.

Rush loves making, creating music, but I saw R40 as 1 last push. A retrospective setlist, a ton of effort went into the production, it may as well have said farewell on it.

I believe this door has closed. And it has a nice bow on top. I am glad Rush never had to resort to the Casino circuit, by cutting stage effects in half, shortening the set to 90 minutes and teaming up with Styx or REO Speedwagon to sell tickets. That is something none of us would want to see.

Ged and Al will make some music at some point. But Neil will be Daddy from now on.

He missed seeing his 1st daughter grow up, he's not going to do the same again.

I got to go to opening night in Tulsa, I only live 90 minutes away how could I miss it. I went to Denver because my Tulsa seats were total garbage. Missing Neil take that "final" bow sticks in my craw.

Yeah,

That would have been a real emotional time for me. Lets hope they do some thing in the future. I prefer a tour over an album.

Yet many retired people keep an office to go to. So not to die of boredom in retirement. After a few years off when bodies are recovered and Oliva is old enough to go on tour during summer break perhaps Neil will want to share the lyrics written inspired by retirement.

I see the logic. I think the key will be if Neil keeps traveling. He keeps writing posts 'FROM' the tour. I question even if he's gone on a bike ride since the tour ended. If we see updates that he is biking the roads of rural America, I can see him possibly doing a tour.

I think there is a direct interest in him biking and touring. And I don't see Olivia being old enough to do that as much distance as he rides per day for at least 10 years...I can't see Neil touring and flying to each gig...not his cup of tea

I doubt they'll tour like they used to, maybe more like two weeks in Vegas.

On April 29, 2015, Alex Lifeson stated in an interview R40 might be the final large-scale Rush tour due to his psoriatic arthritis and Peart's chronic tendinitis. However, he did not rule out future projects with the band, including smaller tours and limited performances, and even stated he would like to work on soundtracks with Geddy Lee. On December 7, 2015, Peart stated in an interview he was retiring. Lee clarified the following day Peart had only retired from touring and was not ruling out continuing work with Rush in other capacities. Lifeson confirmed in 2016 the R40 tour was the band's last large-scale tour.

When I was younger I imagined I would be distraught when Rush finally called it quits, but it turns out I'm completely at peace with whatever they should choose to do. I haven't liked a whole lot since Hold Your Fire anyway.

(Does that mean I'm not a True Fan™?)
