blackhawkrush Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 I see there's enough guys here interested in this little tournament, so I decided to start a thread. The fun begins next Friday. Can't wait.
blackhawkrush Posted June 6, 2016 Author Posted June 6, 2016 England to win it, Rooney top scorer............ Getting out of the group in first place shouldn't be a problem. Quarterfinal against Portugal will be a must-see.
goose Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 (edited) Wales wins it all. You read it here first. Edited June 6, 2016 by goose 2
blackhawkrush Posted June 6, 2016 Author Posted June 6, 2016 Wales wins it all. You read it here first. Yes, as long as they don't have to play Sweden. ;) 1
blackhawkrush Posted June 7, 2016 Author Posted June 7, 2016 This is Germany's year. The Germans gotta be careful and win their group, otherwise they may end up playing France in the last 16. 1

Tony R Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Belgium definetely among the favouritesDefinitely not going to win it. Couldn't beat Wales. 1
Tony R Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Obviously Germany and France are big favorites.Wales and Ireland won't get out of the group stage. N.Ireland will finish bottom of theirs. England out in the first knockout stage with Hodgson castigated for not getting his team selection right, then sacked. 1
blackhawkrush Posted June 8, 2016 Author Posted June 8, 2016 Georgia, 137th team in FIFA rankings defeated Spain 1-0 in the last friendly match before Euro 2016. That tells you anything is possible.
goose Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Meanwhile, in Copa América Group A action, USA pounding Costa Rica 3-0 at 45:00.

blackhawkrush Posted June 9, 2016 Author Posted June 9, 2016 Four Syrians arrested in a terrorist sting in Nice. Three matches, Poland-N. Ireland, Spain-Turkey and Sweden-Belgium are to be held in that city...
goose Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 (edited) Meanwhile, in Copa América Group A action, USA pounding Costa Rica 3-0 at 45:00.4-nil final. USA 1 & 1 in group A play, with a +2 goal differential. Good enough for 2nd behind Colombia. ETA: For kicks, I checked TicketBastard for Copa America quarterfinals tix at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara. Cheapest nosebleed seats are going for $110. Moving down toward the field, upwards of $750. Wow! Edited June 9, 2016 by goose
goose Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 (edited) Brazil sneaking by Haiti 5-0...so far. ETA: And Haiti gets a gooooooooooooal! That voodoo that you do! :chickendance: 5-1. And the party erupts in the stadium. Nothing like a live major soccer football match! ('cept maybe hockey) Edited June 9, 2016 by goose

Cheapest nosebleed seats are going for $110. Moving down toward the field, upwards of $750. Wow! Those prices are shocking. That's the kind of thing that will hold back US football development. Are prices for other top Sports in the US similar to these?
foghorn-leghorn Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 As for the Euros, With Scotland again failing to qualify, I will be once again supporting Germany. However, It will take a massive improvement on how they have played since winning the WC,to have any chance this time. The retirement of Philipp Lahm the Captain, has hit them hard. He controlled every German attack when he played. Now, they are too pedestrian going forward, making it easy to defend against. No Marcus Reus again, is also a blow. I personally can't see past France, although if Belgium get their act together, and start playing as a team, they could easily win it. Spain are also looking good.
blackhawkrush Posted June 10, 2016 Author Posted June 10, 2016 Romania looking good in the first half against France. :finbar:
blackhawkrush Posted June 10, 2016 Author Posted June 10, 2016 Romania looking good in the first half against France. :finbar:After all the good saves by Tatarusanu, the Romanian goalkeeper made a huge mistake coming out at the wrong time, giving France the lead. Penalty kick gave some hope to the visitors, but in the end, Payet's finish was something to see. 2-1 France, the final.
MULTIPLIED REACTION Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 Rooting for Ireland even though they have no chance in hell of winning the thing. 1
blackhawkrush Posted June 10, 2016 Author Posted June 10, 2016 English and Russian fans are creating lots of mayhem in the streets the last couple of days. They're even taunting the terrorists by chanting "ISIS, where are you?" Could be a hot Saturday night in Marseille... 1
Brucey Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 Payet will rightly take the plaudits but I thought Kante was excellent too, he is genuinely one of the best defensive midfielders I've seen.
