Not that I'd vote for them, but just tossin' them out there

 

I would definetely vote for them (and for Triptykon) in any poll, but they are not thrash.

For me their music is 'Dark Abyss Metal'

 

celtic frost and hellhammer are amazing

So this thread is for you to declare who your favourite thrash band is. The band that you think is best based on your own personal tastes and sensibilities. It doesn't matter how big or insignificant the band is in terms of world wide notoriety or record sales.

 

Don't forget no new thrash bands, all the bands I'm listing in the poll were conceived in the 80's or even before. I've compiled the poll looosely in order of fame and richness just to make it easier to find your band.

 

My own personal favourite will be revealed in my next post.

Of course they have sucked since youthanasia and daves case of Nugentitis seems to be getting worse. Poor guy.

 

I disagree with the former statement. Endgame and System hold up for me.

 

As for he latter it's clear Dave has some issues but they have rarely gotten him away from making pretty good music.

There were some good tunes on system but only a few. Wish poland stuck around.

 

I saw a good number of shows from sfsgsw to youthsnasia. Then i saw the rip 25th anniversary show. It was good but unless its free i am not seeing them live again.

Well you see I'm not a "proper" Megadeth aficionado really, I'm more of casual Megadeth follower. So my tastes within the bands canon differ from the standard Megadeth devotee. I'm a Vinnie C fan too. My second favourite is Rust in Peace though. Meanwhile I also like United Abominations a lot more than the average Megadeth fan appears to.

Never really viewed them as thrash...I believe they were referred to as "Avante-garde Metal" back in the day lol

they had elements of thrash, elements of doom, elements of what would later become proper black metal in the 90s. morbid tales and emperor's return really don't sound like any other music that was coming out in 1984/1985.
