I think if that were to happen though we should all say screw it and not care if something turns up as a double or not. That would be a lot of work going through the whole list trying to figure out if something has been repeated.

For me its pretty easy to remember. I am in a certain lane generally and there are tons of things being posted I have never even heard of. The stuff in my lane or near I can mostly remember...

200. Dirt - Alice In Chains (J2112YYZ)

 

The best album from the best band from the early 90s Seattle hard rock music movement. The songs are very dark both musically and lyrically but at the same time is a complete joy to listen to. All the songs are classics and among the band's best. Not a song on this you would skip. I spent a great majority of late '92/'93 listening to this album. Layne Staley's haunting and unique vocal style really help add to the overall ominous feel of this album.

195. Violent Femmes - Violent Femmes (goose)

 

I gave a nod to Clapton for kickstarting a return to acoustic music, but this band got acoustic before it was cool. This album is full of great hooks, fun lyrics, and is an iconic piece of the alternative canon. One of my best memories as a teacher was handing my vinyl copy of this album to one of those weird kids that eat lunch in the hall. He needed it. For those kids, this album screams, "You're OK".

201. Opeth - Damnation (PolarizeMe)

 

Opeth going clean before it became (apparently) permanent another 8 years later with Heritage. Regardless of the fact that this album is Opeth doing something completely different (at the time, at least), it stands out in their whole discography as one of their best albums. The mood of the album is very somber and melancholic yet because of that, it's also beautiful sounding. The feel for this album is just perfect for what the band wanted to achieve with this record. Mikael Åkerfeldt's gone on to become a much better clean vocalist after this album, but his performance on this album is one of his finest hours, particularly on the songs Windowpane and Hope Leaves.

skipping bang a gong and getting to mambo sun, cosmic dancer, and planet queen, this is a rocking album from start to finish.

I'm glad someone added the Violent Femmes. That's a great album. Maybe the Smiths and the Cure aren't too far behind. ;)

 

Hopefully they are very far behind. I may have to go Oasis or Supergrass some time very soon.
