Welcome to the forum, AnEggplant. Enjoy the Rush music you like and never feel like going against the grain on your tastes/opinion is a bad thing. It can take some time to get used to the forum and strong voices of others...but I'm sure you'll find your way....enjoy.

Thanks!

Do you read the Yukon Blade Grinder?

Nope. To be honest I'm too noob to even know what that is.

Oh yeah,

Now we have some one to try out the tub! :7up:

Any way welcome to the forum.

Thanks! I'm scared as to what you mean by "try out the tub" but thanks. XD

Oh...in order to be a "true" member of the forum, you have to take a bath in this...it's not too bad. Everybody goes through it

I doubt you'll find any two people on the forum with identical taste in Rush albums/songs. Everyone is entitled to their opinion (but my opinion is the correct one, just so you know ;) )

We're you a participant of chess club or AV club in school?

My first term in college I wrote a Humanities paper which started off with a quote from "A Farewell to Kings". One day after class the prof told me he really liked the paper, gave me an "A", then asked me if I played chess and wondered if I wanted to join the chess club. I should've been happy with the "A" but all I could think was, "Shit, do I look like that much of a geek?!"

;)

I like anyone brave enough to admit that Signals is overrated.

I'll probably be shanked, but at least I'll be shanked with dignity!

All good. Some lunatic here once proclaimed that Tom Sawyer "wasn't all that" and he survived...though he does walk with a limp and has a stutter now.

Well, for my own survival it's probably terrible for me to say this but I kind of agree. I like the song but I definitely don't understand why it's one of the precious few played on the radio, at least in my area. I like Red Barchetta and YYZ much more.

Don't be confused by the title, I love Rush. I would go as far as to call them my favorite band. However, after browsing around these forums for a while, I found out that I have opinions about the band that almost nobody else seems to share. Namely:

1) Despite the fact that it seems like a national past time on here to poop on it, Clockwork Angels is my favorite album. I love every single song on it. The production doesn't bother me, in fact I like it, and every song is amazing to me.

2) I love Test for Echo, and yet everybody on here seems to think it's TERRIBLE, their worst even. I can't understand how they can find Test for Echo worse than Roll the Bones or Hold Your Fire (That's another thing, I think HYF is a giant snore fest of lame). I really like every song on here. I love the title song, Totem Pole, heck I even love Dog Years. Sure Virtuality's lyrics are a bit dated and Limbo isn't as good as their other instrumentals, but I still like them both.

3) I find Signals to be very overrated. I love the first two songs and New World Man, but to me the rest are filler at best. Also, I HATE "The Weapon", even though so many people on here seem to think it's amazing. I just find it boring, repetitive, and really weird.

4) I love every song on Counterparts EXCEPT "Speed of Love". Even though more people seem to agree with me on this than on my other weird opinions there's still a shocking amount that would even go so far as to call this the best song on the album. I have no clue how you could think that. It's so cheesy and corny and mushy.

Anyway, this isn't meant to offend anyone. We all are entitled to our own opinions. I just wanted to know if mine were so strange that I shouldn't even be considered a "Rush fan". Anyhow, sorry for the dumb post.

Welcome to the forum Eggy

... first, I'd like to mention that I like eggplant a lot - so we're off to a good start :D

I had no idea what to expect when I joined as I can't stand anything after Signals

Gold star for the comment about The Weapon - it's dreadful

But I love RUSH circa 1974-1980 as much as a person could love a band - I mean really love them

The posters / fans here are great - as diverse as RUSH's music, so don't worry about what moves you - we're all RUSH fans here

Cool, thanks! I don't care for the synth era much, but in my opinion they've redeemed themselves.

Welcome Eggplant! This is a fun place! Hope you always feel free to express your ideas- I'm pretty much in love with everything through Signals, then I jump to Vapor Trails, S + A, and CA, which 3 I also really really like, go figure, but when I read opinions such as yours I'm inspired to give the synth era another listen, so see, you might open some eyes! :) Hope you enjoy your time here- and you are a real Rush fan!

Thanks a bunch! I'm not too fond of the synth era in general, I dislike Roll the Bones and Hold your Fire, and am pretty 'meh' about Presto and Power Windows. My opinions change sometimes though. I didn't use to like Grace Under Pressure but after listening through it again it's grown on me.

The synth era is my favorite Rush! Especially HYF! That's okay Eggplant. I welcome you anyway!

Welcome to the forum.

Thanks! Roll the Bones was the first Rush album I ever heard, and at the time I thought it was fantastic. But after listening to the rest it quickly became my least favorite. I think it's pretty much unsalvageable for me. I should try Hold Your Fire again though, it might end up like Grace Under Pressure did for me.

Welcome, Eggplant! So far, you're okay in my book. CA is one of Rush's best albums, if not THE best!

Speed of Love is a bit dorky. (And this is coming from a dork, but it's much dorkier than I am.) However, Dog Years is a fun song. Wait until you've heard it sung in German!
