Blue J Posted July 12, 2015 Share Posted July 12, 2015 Here is a thread to talk about what kinds of things we'd like to be able to do- talents we would like to have, and so forth. I wish I were a good cook. I can make a few things, but they aren't very adventurous. There are a lot of different things I'd like to be able to make. Also, I'd love to be able to speak about ten different languages. I speak French, and some Dutch, and just some phrases in Spanish- and just a few words in German and Chinese. But there is a ton more that I'd like to do. Mastery of any one of those that I know a little bit would be great. And then another language...and another, and on and on. I'd also like to be a good photographer, at some point.  Anyone else? There are a lot of different things I'd like to be able to make.   I wished that too. Then I just started to do things in the kitchen. I read some cook books and improvised. That was about 10 years ago. Now I consider myself a pretty good amateur cook. All it takes is time and effort. I truly wish I had even a little talent in visual art. Can't draw anything, or paint, and my photography sucks. I can play instruments and I think I'm quite good writing stuff (even better in Finnish), but I probably sit on my visual eye or something. Swedish - 6 years of that in school, so I know quite a bit of it. I also went to classes in German for 2 years but I've forgotten most things I learned. Then I can order Pizza in Italian and handle hotel and restaurant vocabulary in Spanish. That's about it. Especially Spanish and Italian are languages I'd love to speak decently. I can make a story with an image but as soon as it comes to writing I just switch off Also wish I could cook. I love eating but can barely cook beans on toast with messing up something. I can converse fine with friends, that's not a problem, but I wish I had the skill of going up to a random person at a party and striking up an interesting conversation.
