I REALLY THINK EARL HAS HAD ENOUGH TO DRINK TONIGHT!!!!

HELL, I THINK HE'S HAD ENOUGH TO DRINK FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK!

MAYBE EVEN THE MONTH!!!!!

IF HE'S NOT CAREFUL, HE'LL FIND HIMSELF IN THE CAGE AFTER THE CINEMA SHOW WITH THE SLIPPERMEN WHILE THE LAMB LIES DOWN ON ABACAB!!!

SHELDON

Is he drunk, then?!

Genesis vs Rush.

Rush is 10 times better.

Better singer

Better drummer

Better guitar player

Better bass player

Better keyboard player

Better lyrics

Better instrumentals

Better band name

Better guys

Better live concerts

And they are still rocking!!!!

Better keyboard player?

I've been thinking it over Both Bands have GREAT records.

Genesis

Nursery Cryme

Foxtrot

Selling England

Trick of the Tail

Wind

Duke

Abacab

Genesis

Rush

Caress Of Steel

2112

Hemispheres

Waves

Moving Pictures

Signals

Windows

HYF

Presto

Looking at the lists. I'm going with Genesis Waves and MP notwithstanding. Genesis just has higher highs, IMO. I really don't need to listen again as both bands music is in my DNA.

But Album like, Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot, Selling England, Trick, Wind, Duke, Abacab.......really tip it for me.

Genesis all day.

Chester > Neil

Hell yeah. Chester said he had to cut back on his swing to play with Genesis. If he did you cant tell he swings like a Mofo and made that music all the more funky while still basically playing like Phil Collins which is a testament to just how good PC was at his peak. Then check his work with Zappa. FZs music never swung the way it did when Chester played with him.

Rush all day.

I love the early Genesis albums, up through Lamb. Fantastic stuff.

But no way do they beat the best of Rush, IMO.

I was thinking the same thing. Geddy is a fantastic bass player and a good singer but Tony Banks is in a different league as a keyboard player.

Oh phil is also my fav drummer ever. He has it all over Neil. He and Chester together were magic.

Mick

You told me it was Don Henley

:outtahere:

Don Henley is the drummer i'd like to send up the river in a sack.

I've never really compared the two as their style is so different. I don't think I'll start now other than to say that they are two of my favorite bands.

Funny irony, Genesis grew up loving American R&B, fused with folk and then extended arrangements as their musical vocabulary grew. Rush grew up listening to English musicians apeing American sensibilities and increasingly English pastoral folk while extending arrangements as their musical vocabulary grew

Rush has pretty much always been Rush. One lineup change, after the first album, then one band. How many lineup changes for Genesis? The Incredible Shrinking Band? Genesis has been several bands.

I love 'em both, but I'm going with Rush.

And of once again, Collins Genesis over Gabriel Genesis, any day of the week!

Genesis was the better pop band. I like when Rush tried it with presto. but man albums like duke Abacab, And Genesis are awesome.

Duke and Abcacab kinda had like a cool Prog/pop thing going.

70s prog bands in the 80s ranked

1. rush (obviously)

2. king crimson (discipline's a classic, remain in light-era talking heads meets king crimson)

3. genesis

4. yes

5. jethro tull

I haven't heard any other 70s band's 80s material. we could count zappa as prog, he was pretty bad in the 80s from what I've heard, but I won't
