Segue Myles
Caress of Steel, amazing album, not a single bad song on it, all amazing. My thoughts exactly...top three seventies Rush for me, after AFTK and Hems respectively.

Segue Myles
CoS by a landslide. :) I love that song...Stevie Nicks...mmmmmm.... Back on track, it is a mighty special album! Better than 2112 for me, but that is only because 2112 has a notably less impressive (but still very good) second side. This one is gold from start to finish! That's interesting that you like it better than 2112. 2112 is such an epic, but it's just been played to death over the years. CoS was kind of the poor little stepchild back when it came out.

Side one of 2112 bests all but one CoS song (Bastille Day is one of my major fave Rush songs). But CoS gets my vote for better album. My experience of 2112 rarely passes the epic...
Tombstone Mountain
interesting Most underrated vs. most overrated. underrated wins here. COS. MickBut CoS to my humble egomaniac ears is superior by the widest imaginable margin. You're a gas-huffer too I see Can you ever be respectful to an opinion not your own?Furthermore, you're statements are mean't to be provocative...because they're so ridiculous they demand it. It's why we post.you have a wicked sense of humour...maybe it goes over my head and I read too much into it (if I do sorry...I mean that)You do...and you don't have to be sorry. It's ok. I tell you what let me give you some cupcakes in the documentary trailer

Segue Myles
Clockwork Angels beats almost any album, but it kicks the living crap outta that PoS. Wow. But I respect your opinion, CoS from what I've gathered divides opinion like few other Rush albums. Regardless of this forum, CA gets a lot of positive reactions from the media, so to the best of my knowledge the disdain towards it is in the minority. Which is nice for the band. rocket ignites
I'm just too into modern day Rush to not go CA. I will give COS some spins to see how I feel about it these days.

But the material on it is just fantastic. Now, Caress of Steel has a whole plethora of issues. I'd pick any album over it. I do love Bastille Day, but one song does not an album make.

GabesCavesOfIce
Blasphemy. CA, is a fine album, but its from the "lets make this tune sound sophisticated era." Lets add a layer here and bury the guitar with ambient keys over there. COS is from musicians who want to establish themselves in the music business, who are hungry for success. Who want to blow the world away with their guitar bass and drum playing ability. Who wouldn't know a layered synth if it hit them in the head. And the world is a better place because of that. .
