J2112YYZ Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 They've been doing that at sound check for a few weeks now. 2
Alchemical Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Wouldn't it be a downer for Losing It to close the first set?
EagleMoon Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Wouldn't it be a downer for Losing It to close the first set? Losing It would be a downer no matter when they would play it. 2

tomhealey Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Listen to the first 50 seconds of the Youtube cut. Sounds like strings warming up, so seems live. But who's playing them? 1
Catch The Mystery Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 (edited) It's really nice of them to rehearse this song when they're playing outside shows :) Edited May 31, 2015 by Catch The Mystery 3
Digital Dad Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 To me it sounds like the studio backing until Ged starts singing. Aside from that and the obvious piped in violin solo it sounds pretty live.
Jaminbenb Posted May 31, 2015 Author Posted May 31, 2015 I was just thrilled to hear them do it...heard one of the recordings from earlier..and was hoping that we'd hear it ...very cool thing!
tomhealey Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 I meant listen to the first 50 seconds before the actual songs starts. Sounds like someone making sure a violin is in tune.
Digital Dad Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Is there a violinist already on the crew because it seems unlikely they would bring in a string player on the tour just to play the song just to soundcheck. I thought that was just Alex noodling.
Jaminbenb Posted June 1, 2015 Author Posted June 1, 2015 You almost want to think that if they are doing something special, that they'd get someone to play live when they DO do it...my other thought is that they're just doing for themselves during soundcheck?!?!
EagleMoon Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 The first few seconds are Alex playing around on the guitar. It doesn't sound like a violin to me.
GabesCavesOfIce Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 That is insane. Much clearer than the Austin version, and I was two parking lots and a swamp away when it was played yesterday sound check. Sounds like it will be played in TO. I'm hoping it's not played in Philly NJ or NY. I think I'd lose it if I am there and they play it. Couldn't bring enough Kleenex. 1

I'll have extra in my pocket just in case...

I was getting "moist" last night....
GabesCavesOfIce Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 (edited) My eyes were like a pet died when I heard it on u tube. Sounded amazing. Can't believe I was sitting in traffic so close on 66 when such legendary music was performed live (probably5pm?). So close yet so far. I really don't want to see it live. Too painful. But Anarchist was tremendous opening song :) . Edited June 1, 2015 by Gabrielgil513 1
TheBluePhoenix Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 It’s a good song but not something I want to hear live. Shall we assume that they’ll swap out Subdivisions for Losing It during the next leg?
rushfrom91 Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 It would be sad but extremely powerful and definitely unforgettable, need to have a more upbeat song follow it. Wonder where they'll play it, rumors aside? Thinking about going to the second Toronto show 1
Merely Space Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Assume nothing! :) The rumor I read on RIAB is that they're doing it only in select cities, with a guest violinist. Best guess is Toronto and/or LA.

Not assuming! :D Read the same rumor, just think the Toronto shows are going to be even more special, especially if they are filmed ;) 2
