Neil gets kind of douchey on this...

"I'm smarter than the internet..."

"I'm smarter than people who choose sides..."

"I know who Sisyphus is..."

"All religions are interchangeable..."

But his drumming is spot on. I enjoy listening to this while watching the "Work in Progress" video.

I don't get anything nearly that negative from the lyrics.

Me either. Crowd psychology.

Resist. Just in time too....... :)

I can learn to resist anything but bashing T4E, the piñata of RUSH albums.

It's a darn side better than VT.

Now it's time to throw down. :rage:

Wow! This was unexpected! Then again, Side 2 is coming up, which means Dog Years, Virtuality, and Limbo...

3 very good songs

This are the three I usually skip.

Which makes them the best three on T4E.

Sorry, it was so easy.

And on top of that it made no sense.

No, you see, you skip them, so you don't have to listen to them, unlike the other songs, which you like enough to endure, but they still suck, which makes them worse in the end than the three that you skipped.

:)

Funny album. at first listen, it just sounds so amazing. And then, you listen again, and begin to notice the songs. Downhill from there.

VT is the opposite maybe. At first listen, the sound is awful. Uncomfortable. But then, the songs.

Given the context of the album, the songs are fantastic. Neil is at his most human in his career, having had life take a huge karmic dump on him. For the first time, he's just another person on this planet, pouring his soul out.

That's how it is.

Yup. I call it "RTB syndrome", after the prime offender in this regard.

Agree completely and wholeheartedly. VT took a few listens to embed itself in my ears, whereas the more I listened to T4E, the more I noticed the unpleasantness behind the (great) production. Especially Side 2... Edited by len(songs)

Totem is great hokey fun. Good instrumentation, cool solo, catchy and clever tongue-in-cheek lyrics (one of the few good lyrics on the album). It's one of the most underrated songs in the Rush catalog.

I didn't dislike it. Like I said it was kind of catchy if I recall..... :)

Work has kept me away from the computer for most of today so I missed out on today's party, but I'm glad you enjoyed the first half of Test For Echo! With the exception of Half The World I can safely say I love the first 5 songs, and enjoy most of Totem, minus those annoying "whoa oh a whoaaaa" vocals. Test For Echo and Time And Motion rock :haz:

Half The World got old reaaaaal fast for me...

The only thing that surprised me was your distaste for Limbo. Huge fan of Neil's drums on that one, and the album in general.

Glad you keep finding some stuff you really enjoy

And yes, Narp. I am QUITE happy with myself :D

The production on T4E may be unparalleled. And the tour was phenomenal.

I think the production was a little muddy on Test For Echo around the guitar, but that's just me. I've yet to hear an album that sounds as crystal clear as Counterparts, though Snakes and Arrows comes pretty close.

Really wish I could've gone to a show on that tour, but alas, I was a toddler at the time :D
