The Vikings are giving away free footballs to fans at Sunday night's game. It's not a promotion; it's just that Josh Freeman will be starting.

He won't be starting he's got a "concussion", Ponder will be starting. Mind you that's another good reason for giving away footballs.

No he won't.... he's out. "Concussion symptoms" surfaced on Wed.

According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Christian Ponder is starting Sunday night's game against the Packers. Freeman will be inactive.

Free footballs for the Packer secondary will be most welcome! :7up:

Vikings Fan Who Vowed Never to Shave Beard Until Minnesota Won Super Bowl Has Passed Away

http://usatthebiglead.files.wordpress.com/2013/10/screen-shot-2013-10-25-at-9-08-41-am.png?w=640

Emmett Pearson, an 83-year old Minnesota Vikings fan, passed away at his home on Monday. He was featured in the Hot Clicks almost four years ago, after Minnesota lost the heartbreaking championship game to the New Orleans Saints. From his obituary:

A longtime member of Vasa Lutheran Church, not only did he sing in the church choir since he was 18, he also helped dig the church basement. Many will remember Emmett for his unforgettable beard, something that he’s had since 1975 when the Vikings lost the Super Bowl to the Steelers. A staunch Vikings fan, the beard was not coming off until the Vikings won a Super Bowl. Needless to say, Emmett died having never shaved his beard. More than the Vikings, farming and education, his family was most important to Emmett and he loved them dearly.

Needless to say, indeed. It didn’t look like the beard was coming off any time soon. Keep this in mind the next time you make a proclamation about your hard luck team, because he said that when he was 45 years old. It looked like it would be so close a few years ago! His wife even talked about booking a room at the local church to shave it off.

Rest in peace, Mr. Pearson, who moved on to a better place before having to watch the debacle on Monday Night Football.

I knew Ponder was starting but the joke was better with Freeman, given Monday night's performance.

 WTF, Goodell...

LONDON -- Roger Goodell wants the NFL to return to Los Angeles and he wants to bring the league to Europe on a permanent basis.

In no particular order.

Speaking at a forum for European NFL fans Saturday on the eve of the 49ers-Jaguars game at Wembley Stadium, Goodell was asked by a fan about going back to L.A. and where it ranks on the league's wish list compared to putting a team in London.

Goodell I'd love to be back in Los Angeles. But it has to be done the right way, we have to do it successfully.

"It doesn't matter," Goodell said.

"I'd love to be back in Los Angeles," Goodell said. "But it has to be done the right way, we have to do it successfully. ...

"I want both (London and L.A.), but it doesn't matter which one is first."

The NFL has not had an NFL franchise in Los Angeles since 1995 when both the Rams and the Raiders relocated. If the NFL puts a team in London, it would be the only American professional sports league to have a team based in Europe.

There has been talk that there could perhaps be a Super Bowl held in London. However, Goodell said Saturday that will likely only happen if there is a franchise in London because the Super Bowl is played in cities where the NFL has teams based.

Goodell is a huge proponent of playing in London. There will be two regular-season games played in London this season and three in 2014. The games are wildly popular and have been sellouts.

"You are proving you are worthy of a franchise," Goodell told the European fans.

Meanwhile, Goodell said there could be a female official working in the league by next season. The league had a female official work in the preseason.

I don't mind a team in LA (the Rams should probably go back there or send the Jaguars) but not London.

with a team in London, a team would have to fly out there every week, and they would obviously have to make the usa trip for their away games....with that being said, i think anybody would watch this - with the right players on that team? hell i might even watch it too! the London Eyes, QB, P. Manning, RB. M. Lynch, WR. C. Johnson (megatron)....shit, you'd tune in to watch that team.....BUT, since this IS a Rush forum, before godell puts a team in London, there has GOT to be a Canadian team first - and it makes more sense too!!! anyways, RushOn everyone! :dweez:

Sources: Some Jaguars Players Got Beat Up In London After Sunday's Game

http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/194nblij3cnrgjpg/ku-bigpic.jpg

We don't have any names, but we do have two stories from two different sources, probably about the same group of players. In either case, the story ends with the players losing a fight and going to the hospital. The fight involves either women and hotel security, or nine men with brass knuckles, depending on whom you ask.

Let's start with the first version, from a source in London: Two Jaguars players attempted to enter the team hotel, the Grosvenor House, with six women on Sunday. This would've been sometime after the San Francisco-Jacksonville game at Wembley Stadium, a Jags loss. Hotel security denied entry to the coterie of ladies. This led to a fight of some kind—also a Jags loss. The two players were treated at the hospital.

In the other story, three (not two) players went clubbing after the game, whereupon they were confronted by nine (nine!) guys, some of whom supposedly wore brass knuckles. This version comes from a source who knows the players but who wouldn't give us their names. There was a fight, also a Jags loss, followed by a trip to the hospital. Two of the players looked "pretty rough," according to the source—"black eyes, cuts and bruises." (This source also dismissed the coterie-of-ladies story, pointing out that NFL security would've stepped in at some point.)

It's entirely possible there were two separate fights that night in London, and two separate trips to the hospital. These are the Jags, after all. We're working off the assumption, however, that we're dealing with two game-of-telephone versions of the same incident. Anyone know anything more?
