you can make one of the best rush albums ever by combining the best of CA with the best of S&A into one playlist :)

Here it is!

Caravan

BU2B

Clockwork Angels

The Anarchist

Carnies

Halo Effect

Seven Cities of Gold

The Wreckers

Headlong Flight

BU2B2

CA for me, really wished they wouldnt have played so many snakes songs in a row on the 2007/08 tour..

Ahh, yes...they should never play so many songs from the album they're supporting on a tour.

With regard to the original question...I don't know. I love them both.

BU2B, Bravest Face, Faithless, and Good News First? Did you try to fit the four most plodding songs among an otherwise good list?

This could start a war here but :finbar: . CA is the best they have had out since Moving Pictures. 2112, Moving Pictures and Clockwork Angels are my top 3. :finbar: :rush:

And a fine top three it is! :rush:

Imagine what David Botrill could have done with CA's mix?

SA bores me very quickly. It's too nice - it lacks "mud". CA however is a different animal. Every time I listen to it I'm reminded of how radically different it is compared to everything they have done in the past. I'll agree that it is a dense record sound wise, but it doesn't bother me enough to dislike the music. I'll say that after upgrading my stereo and upgrading my signal cables a lot of the "mud" has been transferred to the lower registers. Now it sounds like a Moog Taurus pedal underneath which is nice :)

I honestly do think that CA is the best they have done since the early eighties - probably since Signals. I wish they hadn't used that record producer though.

Maybe hiring a young Rush fan wasn't the best idea. It's cool that he's a Rush fan, but his experience might be a bit too clouded by the "modern rock sound." I don't mind the production of the album all that much, but one can't help wondering (wistfully) what a reunion with TB might have produced.

I’d argue it wouldn’t have become the album we all love without the input of Nick the Rush fan. He pushed them along, encouraging them to be more Rush-like, to do all the things the critics have hated about Rush but which the diehard fans love.
